Shocks & Struts

I'm replacing shocks & struts all the way around and would love some feedback on a couple of things:

1. Is there a favorite brand that's a phenomenal bang for the buck? Don't need coil overs or anything too crazy.

2. I assume it's smart to replace the mounts while everything's apart. Anything else to look out for?

Thanks for the feedback!

When I did it I went with lowering springs, because I wanted them.

I just wanted an OEM type so I used KYB GR-2's.

Gs front suspension could be arguably equipped with struts as they do have springs around them and spring is a vital part of the suspension. So generally it is a strut. Some manufactures call it shock , some call it strut.

As to the brand.
It depends on how long you planning to keep the car. If for not long KYB is a good (like stock) choice. Work well with stock and lowered springs. If you planning to keep the car for quite long time Koni Yellow is a better choice IMO. First of all they are adjustable and can be hardened/softened on demand and Koni offers a lifetime warranty so you'll never need to buy new ones. If they fail Koni will replace them, or you can always rebuild them as they do come apart and seals can be replaced. They do cost significantly more than KYB though.

Its a shock. It has no bearing on alignment angles. Any shop calling it a strut is wrong. Go to any suspension website that's worth their salt and they're sold as a shock.

The front is listed as struts and the rear as shocks.

Great, this is what I was looking for. Thanks for the feedback, guys! This is my wife's car and she seems to think she gets points for hitting pot holes, so a lifetime warranty sounds fantastic. Koni Yellows are still way cheaper than OEM. Any recommendations on where to buy?

Adjustable Koni Yellows are like $500 a pair from Koni and you can find them in $400s else where. Do OEM really cost more than that?

The OEM fronts run 400/pair at the discount online dealerships. The rears are just over 300/pair.

KYBs unless you're into labels!

KYB shocks will give you a factory ride for many thousands of miles to come, I put them on my last Z and never regreted it! Available from our Marketplace under vendor suspension...Gary

Haha, no, they are indeed all four shocks.

They don't provide alignment angles, they are not an integral part of the suspension (other than the fact that the springs are mounted on them) and we don't even need to get into the fact that we have multi-link suspensions which are pretty much always shock based.
