07 X sedan cup holder does not spring back

I would post this on the v36 tech area but no one seems to ever respond there. Ok so i relized from the day i got the car that the cup holder cover doesnt sit flush with the rest of the center of the car, wasnt sure what it was so ive been really wondering what it could be and i spotted a small broken peice of plastic but cant see this effecting anything.

Here is the pic of how it rests on the actually cup holder insert http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg500/YoungDip631/Mobile%20Uploads/20150113_215409_zpsz3gay6rk.jpg

Heres the pic of the cracked piece

What could i do to fix this? The cup holder cover is suppose to spring up when touched correct?

Mine had the issue because of spilled milk in the rotating parts. I had to clean it up with WD-40 and the spring action came back. Try this... And come back to us!

Just got off work im took the time to look at everything in the car and want to make sure that im going to be spraying right springs(even tho i dont see any other springs visible in the cup holder set up). Your saying i should spray the 2 springs that are in the cup holder insert correct?

Yes! The WD won't hurt anything lol. Worst case it evaporates fairly quickly.

Nice video lol... I see your mom called.

I'm not sure about internal to that... But I can pull up the Factory service manual diagram tomorrow.
