2009 Coupe G37 Automatic Trans question
I found this 2009 that has a clean title, but Salvage history on the car fax. It was not flooded or anything. It was in an accident. My question is it is a RWD and has only 32K miles, but the trans only works in manual mode. What are the odds the tranny is bad at only 32K? And is a G35 have the same transmission as the G37? Just curious as it is obviously easier to obtain a G35 transmission than a G37 transmission. Any help would be appreciated

To answer your question, different motor, different tranny. Save your money and look elsewhere. That car probably has tons of issue.
If you don't have money to buy a clean title vehicle, then you don't have money to fix a car with a salvage history.

I obviously know it has a different engine. Which is why I want one. I have an 04 G35 coupe. I've purchased rebuilt title cars before. The body and everything has been repaired. I'm guessing it is an electrical problem or ECU problem. I don't think a trans is gonna go bad at 32k and I don't think it would work in manual mode is the tranny was bad. I'd buy it if it was a little cheaper. He's asking $18K or my 04 G35 + $5K which was why I was considering it. I'll wait for what I really want which is an AWD Coupe.

Yeah I was only considering it because he was gonna take my car in trade. Save me the hassle of selling it, but I definitely was not going to buy it for $18 for the way it sat. No way. Even a mechanic wouldn't be able to tell me exactly what is wrong with it. Tranny issues are never cheap. I work for a performance shop, but everytime you bring it down to the auto tranny guy it's at least $1000. $500 alone to drop it and put it back in. And it's always a lot for something he's never touched before.
