Warning another NOOB!

Greetings,

Well I just bought a 03 G-35 which has some minor Rt side damage.
It runs & drives ( sort of ) If you consider a motorcycle tie down strap a primary part of the front suspension!

I am gathering all the parts I can * see * I need, core support, fender , bumper, hood, lights, radiator etc etc.

I'm sure I will have some questions on Air bag computer reseting, dash replacement ( pass side bag deployed ).

I had great time building my 91 300ZX TT but I learned a forum like this is invaluable to the *secret* knowledge.

I'm hoping not to ask TO MANY * read the FAQ * questions, so I will spend a great deal of time reading before I tear into things.

I do have the shop manual...and have been twisting on cars for a LONG time!

So I do not have any current questions, but wanted to introduce myself.

Any tips on the good deal to buy parts ( wrecking yards in So Cal ) or online new ( So far infinitipartsonline.com ) seems to be the best overall * deal *.

The first job is the windshield, I'm having difficulty locating the A pillar trim piece ( pass side ).

Thanks

Mike

Im starting to see that wisdom, but it's more of a learn the car & understand the construction for me. I don't intend to flip it, it will be a daily driver for me, wanted something more cushy then my 91 TT-Z which was my 2 summers ago project.

Getting things going

So I got some E bay headlights ( OE used ) with no ballast's.
BUT I had what was left of the CRUSHED pass side & the not AS broke drivers side headlight assy.PLUS a 50 dollar E bay shattered headlamp ( W ballast ).
I mocked up the harness on the workbench and pre test everything..

So I had 3 good balasts, 2 stock OE HID bulbs, 2 LED H4 replacements ( not as super bright as one would want! ).

I was excited about all the new info & parts I called my buddy to come over with his 04 G35 coupe, and fixed up his pass side low beam ( he just needed a bulb ).

After that, I was able to rebuild both E bay headlight's, put in the new HID 8K & H4 lamps and it 100% tested & delivered to the shop...

One project at a time till it's back on the road!

Fun @ California DMV

$580.00....
To tranfer title, tax, salvage fee, outta state car, to many
penguins tax, sky is blue tax, this came from a state with a low IQ so
you must have one too tax, OH wait and you have a drawl in your voice
20% tax.
New title search fee, hit the printer button twice surcharge, DMV
training to have that indifferent look. penalty..

I still need smog, brakes, lights inspection..

THEN DMV has to do a vin verification ARRGGHH

Well the pull didn't happen.. yet.
A bunch of parts came in, but the shop is closed for the holiday.
I've been doing research the whole weekend ( Ow brain hurts ).
BTW the A/C condenser SURVIVED all this destruction ( weird ).
Ordered the double din kit ( Metra ).
Scored a Pioneer FT-900.
Got the side skirts, mirror ( D/S ) Mirror ( rear view ) ..
One of babys new shoes is mounted & ready to be put on.

Next 2-3 weeks is going to be slammed @ work ( which is a good thing ).
I think ( at this point ) I'm in for 10K total.BUT the dash air bag, belts aren't dealt with or paint....

Ok more parts bought....
Car still on frame rack... ( waiting on a upper subframe new piece of sheetmetal ).
Still waiting on suspension parts...
Was going to take more parts to the shop BUT the house had other ideas...
Clothes washer decided to leak ( stress crack in tub due to SOME ONE not knowing what the phrase * balanced load * ment ) 400 bucks to sears....

SIGH I want to DRIVE THIS CAR...

Still need:
Seatbelts ( driver & pass ) or pull mine & send em out to get them un stuck from deployment. Funny I can pass inspection W/O working seat belts, but I will get a ticket for driving it W/O working seat belts (California mental-tality).
Dash for Pass side air deployment. ( or find a tricky way to fix the dash ).
Pass side air bag.
Drivers side lower kick panel ( has a small crack ) .
Make an appointment to have the windshield replaced.
12 quarts of the Nissan ATF ( s or j or what ever the magic goo this week is ).
Debating on A/C condenser...

Still need bits of the wiring harness...

So there you have it...
