Startup Issue and CEL (check engine light)
Hi all,
I am new to this forum
I have a V35 Coupe ( In Australia) and have this CEL on the dash
When I start the car, car dies if I don't accelerate. But If I push the pedal a bit it starts up normally. Do you think this could be related to CEL ?
I've run auto diganostic it threw few codes up
P0037 0102 etc
I have cleaned the MAF using carby cleaner and let it dry no luck
any one had these issues?
thanks in advance

I second that. But hey if he says its fixed. The o2 sensor works to adjust the air to fuel ratio. Thus a faulty 02 sensor will cause the engine to run rich as fail safe. that is bank 1 or bank 2 only the number 1 sensor on each bank does this . the secondary is there just to check for catalytic performance, or if they are simply just there.
the p0102 is related to unaccounted air coming into combustion. usually intake leaks, plenum leaks, and moust commonly maf sensor issues. this would explain his issues. If anything maybe the carb cleaner worked on the MAF. they can get dirty from not changing the air filter at reasonable time intervals.
This will cause issues with idle such as what you are having. If you forget to plug it in or simply unplug it you will see what I mean.
p0102
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Intake air leaks
- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
