2006 trunk won't open

I started experiencing the trunk issue that I've read is common on some of the g35 coupes.
This started out of nowhere yesterday. I can't open it using the drivers button, the glove box button, or the button on the tail lamp.when I press the button on the tail lamp I hear an audible "beep" when I try it the other way I hear nothing.I pulled the rubber boot that protects the wires running from the trunk through the side of the rear windshield and saw the green wire and black wire was tied together with electrical tape covering it.it seemed fine.
Only 2 things I can see as being the issue are:
1)the wiring may still be faulty

2)trunk lock actuator motor

Any suggestions?

You got 99.9% of the way there. Remove the electrical tape and get the soldering gun.

Thank you.but what do I solder? Should there be broken wires if I remove all the electrical tape?

The trunk fix diy guide shows the broken wires. I'd recommend stripping back the wiring, and adding some new wiring in (don't want to shorten an already tight connection).
