Vortech would probably be the easiest thing to fit in there, the space in front of the M engine bay is very much like the space in front of the FX to accommodate the VK45, a couple of pipe changes and a JWT would fit pretty easily. The hard part about your plans is the 6MT conversion and keeping it clean. For the G/Z 6MT conversions I think the advantage they have is having 6MT ecus to use where the FX/M/Q don't have this option. 10k for the conversion + more money for higher end engine management has always scared me away from going down that path.

I have a friend kind of looking to do the same thing to a M, just not the 6MT conversion. He hasn't picked up the M yet, but is making some plans.

Just an FYI, when I bought my M back in March or 2005, I bought the sport model and every single option there was except the rear tv's. If your friend is planning to modd the M, Then he will not need all the options and the sport model, So he can save a little and use that extra money for the mods. on 06-07 the only difference with the sport and base, is the suspension and headlights (sport has a black housing and base has chrome) on the 08 you now get a corolla looking "S" on the rear now.
Are you going to the LAX meet on the 3rd? or how about the F1 meet?

Cool info I'll pass it along to him. One of his thoughts was to get a used one, in any color that he could find. Pull the motor, strip it down and paint it whatever color he wanted, built motor like mine, GT28 turbos and maybe a custom body. He's almost as foolish as me.
LAX maybe, depends on what we have planned for modding before the Las Vegas HIN show, F1 for sure gotta show love to Chris @ F1 for being a cool guy.
