Effects of Creatine, Need Advice ASAP.

Recently I've been thinking to go on creatine, a substance which is already found in our bodies, to enhance my workouts, and build muscle a little quicker. I've heard many great things about creatine and not so many negative effects, as long as you drink lot's of water.

What are your opinions on taking creatine and have you guys taken it before. Any suggestions if I do decide to go on it (What brand, how to take it, etc..)? Remember I'm 17 I still have a little bit of growing to do, will this effect my growth in anyway? Thanks for any advice, I appreciate it in advance.

You're 17 you do not need to be taking creatine... When you stop taking it you will lose the gains you got from it plus the stretch marks.

Hes correct.

Nobody should take anything but protein powder. Particularly at 17. If you skinny/scrawny, i dont think weight gainer powder is too bad either. But if your normal size and just trying to get stronger, just use protein, watch your diet and work hard.

P.S... Creatine seems to really just put water in your muscles and make you look bigger but your not any stronger and when you stop muscles shrink, skin more loose.

This is true. Sometimes it makes you look bloated.

Just do it naturally. It's a more satisfying accomplishment.

Just use protein, your body is producing enough testosterone as it is

protein helps before and after ur workouts.. helps repair muscles faster
u could drink protein as a replacement meal but it's better to eat lean meat

Unless you're seriously training for professional sports, you really don't need to buy protein supplements. Milk, eggs, and a balanced diet is all that you'll need. And, milk and eggs are cheap and easy to obtain. I had a friend in college who used to weight-train competitively. Even he agreed.

Your body is going to repair itself as predicted by normal biological means. Of course, having protein/amino acids in your body is essential. However, ingesting an excess amount isn't going to make it repair itself any faster. For the most part, most of the ppl taking protein supplements with their workout are just wasting the extra protein and adding on extra fat because of it. Extra protein equals extra calories!

^right.. taking too much protein at a time is a waste.. our body takes about 40-50 grams of protein every 2-3hrs.. so if u want to grow.. u should eat every 2-3hrs.. small portion meal containing 40-50grams of protein.. so u should be eating about 5-6 meals a day

I think the only benefit in taking protein supplements/shakes is if you are unable to have a balanced diet and control your diet. Then, for a quick and easy "meal", you can just mix up a glass and drink that "meal". Other than that, it's a waste of money for the average person.

LOL......no. But, I used to lift weights religiously in college and grad school and was very fit. I used to work-out 6 days a week for 6-7 yrs straight and had the body of a gymnist....not anymore though! I took my sh$t seriously and worked out with a bunch of serious weightlifters with some who competed professionally.
