Gym freaks - When do you work out?
I was wondering when you guys prefer to work out... Morning or evening?
I usually workout after work hours ~5-6pm, but every few weeks I have a late evening rotation, which forces me to work out in the morning. I find it extremely hard to do weight lifting early in the morning ~7am. First, my energy levels are not as high, and if I push it at over ~80% I'll get nauseated and a bit light headed. This also screws my appetite for the better part of the day... Any opinions? Preference? Reasons? Discuss....

Between 10 and noon for me. I used to be a first thing in the morning runner, but the job dictates otherwise.
I like the mid-day now because it breaks up the day and lets me purge stress. I come back more patient and ready to crack skulls. I prmarily run and do circuit training. My serious weight lifting days are behind me - I don't see the point and I don't have the time to dedicate anymore. Sometimes I miss it, but the routine I'm on works well for me and my health goals. |

Before you work out, i think its best if u pump your body and get into that "mode." you can do this by running for about 10 mins or just doing aeorbic excercises that would get your body running. this would give u the energy you need to perform at a good state

It used to mostly be after work 6-8pm when I was doing a lot of running. It was a great stress reliever at the day end. At times I would be an early morning runner when my schedule dictated so that I wouldn't miss a day.
Now I'm working out at a gym and at a pool and go at various times since I'm self employed/semi retired. most often it's either 10:30-12:30 am or between 2:30 and 5:00 I think you might want to experiment a bit with your diet if you're having trouble in the morning. My energy is never as high early morning but never had nausea or was light headed ever even when I had a tough workout planned. You should be eating something before working out that gives you a quicker energy like fruit/juices but also something like oatmeal that will give lasting energy through the morning. My preference is always late afternoon as I feel more loose and energetic. |

If I go to the gym, I just do it whenever, bike riding I try to do in the morning before it gets too hot. I used to try early mornings, but it seems my heart rate doesn't get as high in the morning for some reason.

I dont get off of work till about 8pm so I go with coworkers afterwards. I get home by about 10ish and thats when I eat my dinner. Yea the meal habit is kinda off but I dont have much of an option. Like you, I get nautious when I work out in the morning.
Rule of thumb for exercise: your body needs some type of sugar to convert to energy so if you can't get ahold of any nutrition bars or shakes, try to eat at least a spoon of honey.

5am, best time, no1 at the gym, your body gets accustomed, and you are in a fasting state which is awesome to do cardio on, and then do your weights and have a shake
worked for me, i lost 42lbs in 3 months, |

lucky to have a gym in our building. I usually get down there around 6PM and work out at least until 7PM.
Normally Mon-Thurs, alternate from Chest/Triceps Shoulders/Biceps Also do 1-1.25 miles every day after I finish the lifting. |
