debating about fitness

I try to gain every year by working out. I managed to do so for the first 2-3 years but for several months I didn't gain much.

Over the summer I started doin mad cardio, jogging, swimming, jump roping. Not an insane amount but a good combo of the 3. Of course I wasn't gonna gain weight but I toned up nicely, especially my ab area.

Winter time comes around and I stop the cardio, slack on the healthy eating cuz I've been doing it for a couple of yrs n jus gettin sick of it.

Gained an amount (5-6 lbs, a lot considering I weighed 125 in hs before i started hittin the gym) in a couple of months that would take about half a year. Ab area looks fine still but not all that great, not as good as before..

Should I try to keep gaining weight (I am taking Muscle Milk right now) or should I watch myself cuz I might get chubby?

Is there a way I can gain weight while keeping my waist area slim cuz it feels like I am close to my peak level of tone but likely not muscle mass.... I hope

You're trying to gain weight while doing alot of cardio? I would focus more in muscle bulding if gaining weight is your priority. Cardio makes you lose weight & tones your body more than gaining & building muscle.

I use to weigh 145 @ 6 feet. Now, even though I did get an inch taller, I did gain almost 20 lbs of good weight in about a year. I did this by lifting weights & eating ALOT of proteins & carbs. Stay away from saturated fats.

Goodluck!

basically what you want really isn't possible...

well it is, but it'd be a long process that im sure you wouldn't be happy with.

basically do a bulking phase then a cutting phase

you can bulk nicely without putting on fat, you'll put on a lil, but thats a givin, i mean your TRYING to gain weight. basically you should use a 40/40/20 as far as fodd goes what that means is
40% protein
40% carbs
20% fat

as long as your not eating fast food twice a day you should be fine

Why do mad cardio? I mean, what good is being angry while you're running?

Anyway, always watch your weight. 5 lbs is a warning. Before you know it you'll have that "layer" that you can't get rid of. So keep on top of it.

Why is your headline referencing fitness when what you seem to be talking mostly about gaining weight? The two aren't necessarily the same thing. Being fit to me means being lean, eating healthy, good overall muscle tone and excellent endurance.

Choose what you want and work towards it.
