Thumbs up Lost 10 pounds as of February 2008

Well...i've been at a consistent weight of 200-204lbs, and have been hellbent on trying to get to 185lbs for the last 3 months. Needless to say, i've been getting discouraged. I'm not fat, but i want to lose about 15lbs or so of bodyfat, while increasing my definition. But over those last 3 months, i've been stuck between work, getting much-needed rest, and comforting my wife, who is also 3 months pregnant (you'd know this if you read some of my last threads). Anyway, i weighed myself today, and saw that i'm at 195!!!

Well...it gave me much needed motivation, and energy to get even more dedicated to my health, diet, and exercise. Woohoo!!!

Things i've done differently over the last few weeks:
1)LOTS of water and/or diet Lipton Green teas
2)eating Breakfast (this is not a gimmick...if you eat a healthy breakfast, you will feel fuller throughout the day, and limit the crap you eat)
3)snacking on fruits between meals, with a small salad, everyday, at 3:00pm
4)allowing myself only ONE piece of junk, whether its kitkats, a cookie...whatever. If you tell yourself "no junkfood", it makes it more appealing.
5)exercising EVERYDAY...whether it's 45mins at the gym, or a 20minute jog around the block after work
6)writing down what i eat, no matter what it is. After looking over my food log, i was able to see where i went wrong, food wise, as well as pick out patterns on my eating habits (for instance, i tended to eat healthier at work, whereas at home, i tended to eat more carb-heavy foods)

Gotta keep it up...it's hard work, but worth every minute of it!

Kudos John, good for you. I dropped about 15lbs early last year and it's a great feeling seeing some hard work pay off. Keep it up!

I was in a same exact situation in the beginning of the year. When i quit smoking, i started eating like a pig and went up from 195 to 205 within a month. I quit eating after 6-7PM unless we are out with friends friday or saturday night. Run about 1 hour every other day with my dog. Almost quiting junk food except on rare ocassions. Well right now im at 190lb at 6'1" and feel better than i was in high school.

One thing for sure, quiting eating can be as hard as quiting smoking. When ur friends order tasty pizza or $30 pasta at 11:00 PM at night it can be very hard not to get one for urself.

Hi John, how tall are you? I am about 6 ft and 200 lbs and have been betweeen 190-200 for the past 3 years. I'm glad you are going the healthy approach, that is the best way to do it. I've tried the atkins diet and lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. Thats is the unhealthy way to go and I would never do it ever again. I am going to start trying your method. Just like you, I am not over weight, I used to work out 5 days and week and have a lot of muscle mass. But to be at about 10% body fat I am estimating i need to be at about 185 lbs. So i'll see you there

Biggest loser G35 driver edition.

Biggest loser G35 driver edition.

I'm about 5'10", and as i already stated, was consistently about 200-205lbs. At my heaviest, i was 220lbs, guess-timating about 18-22% bodyfat, which was about 2 years ago. Then, my wife and I went on the South Beach diet (too much to type, but if interested, there's lots of info on it) and went to about 184lbs after 3 weeks. At that weight, i was about 12% bodyfat, and was everyone was commenting that i had very noticable definition. Well, figuring i was at a level in which i burned what i took in, i slacked off, and went back to 200lbs.

Sorry for deviating, but there's your answer.
Anyone interested in a friendly forum contest? We could have the end date around July. If there's enough interest, i'll start another thread.

John
