Abs/Core workout
Hey, what do you guys do for a core workout? Do you use machines, medicine balls, free weights, or what? Do you do anything like bridges? I am just trying to get some more ideas since summer is just around the corner. If you have any videos post them up.
Right now I only do crunches and use my machine to add weight to a crunch(It's hard to explain). I would like to add more workouts that is why I am asking. -AGThing1227 |

i'd like to know this as well. I mostly just do machines for abs with the occasional hanging legups or whatever its called where your hanging and bring your knees up to your chest. Works your lower abs. I think what I need to do is run run run to burn off the fat in my midsection.

I do 200 pushups throughout the day all on my knuckles. About 80 to 100 in the morning depending on time, and then do some more at night before I go to bed.
And I do some cross training since I'm on a hill and next to Balboa Park and also run the stairs in my building from the second to the last floor of the parking structure (P2) to the Penthouse (20th Floor). I try to only stop at the 10th. I'm also too cheap to buy a membership so that's why I do other things I need to work on my abs though.

I love planks and do them quite a bit. Anything done on bosu ball will engage your core also. There are these things my trainer has me do and I don't know what they are called but they are really hard and work well: you sit with your knees bent, lean back until you feel your abs tightening, using a weighted medicine ball you twist side to side and touch the ball on the ground, while still leaning back. I'll ask him what the actual name is, I hate them, but also love them. You guys have it so easy, you can do half the work and still loose weight because of your speedy metabolism. I work my butt off and only see half the results my husband does and he doesn't work half as hard as me. Oh well I can outrun and out cycle him! haha.

that only helps a little bit. I do them already. I am asking because I know for football camp we had a program called athletes advantage come and work our cores 3 times a week. I would like to go back to them but they are way to much $$. I forget some of the things they showed us. My loss I suppose. Pushups help a bit, only if you do a correct one since you have to keep your core tight and tucked up instead of it sagging. Can I just use a 10lbs dumbell instead of a medicine ball? -AGThing1227 |

I just recently added those to my work-out routine....they are killer but they are awesome! OP, I'm not sure what other activities your work-outs consist of, but doing a million crunches isn't going to help if you're not burning calories through cardio....and nothing is going to help if you don't eat healthy. I've gotten a lot of results by changing my eating habits. At this point in time, I work out five days a week at 4am. MWF is 30 minutes of cardio plus 45 minutes of lifting....TTh is 60 minutes of cardio plus 15-20 minutes of ab work. I've been doing this for a few months now and it's really paying off ![]() |

i gotta question: instead of running for 30-60 mins on the treadmill my cardio consists of playing full court bball from about 6pm-9pm usually everyday. Sometimes if we win I keep playing nonstop and other times u sit out a few games. My question is, would it be better just to do the 30-60 mins on the treadmill or playing ball for that long give me the same workout? I'm asking cuz i really hate doing cardio on the machines i get bored quick. I rather play the 3 hrs of basketball but if running on the treadmill gives me more effect i'd rather switch to that on a couple nights because i'm really trying to burn body fat.
