Has anyone given up some type of food only to get really sick when you do eat it? I have really tightened up my diet the past 8 months, Chicken, fish, brown rice, sweet potatoes, nothing processed no white flour, lots of fruit and veggies. Last week I at a very small piece of filet mignon and about an hour later was really sick. I thought it was the meat. Sat. night I ate a small chunk of tri-tip and about an hour later was sick. Yesterday I tried about 3 bites of very lean hamburger patty and got sick. All these meats I have bought fresh and cooked myself, no one else got sick but me. I think it's time to give up red meat. I love it but can't seem to handle it anymore. It really sucks because after my 11 mile run yesterday I was craving red meat! Oh well.

ANY pork makes me sick now. I have not had any in over 4yrs. The smell, can at times make me sick to my stomach. That also happens to me with certain types of beef. From what I have been told, alot of beef, pork, etc can have toxin in them. Your body cleanses itself then you try and re-introduce that meat, your body does NOT want to process and will reject in some form/fashion.

I have actually heard that about pork. I ate pork tenderloin last week and no problem. I know red meat has different enzymes in it, maybe it's just chicken and fish for me from now on. I really only miss it once and awhile. As long as my system doesn't have a bad reaction to vodka its all okay! haha.

I TOO have changed from those red meats to fish, chicken and SOME turkey. Where I tend to fall short is that EVERY now and then I like fried foods and that is the WORSE way to cook anything.

As far as drinking goes, its my understanding that drinking is ACTUALLY good for you in moderation.

If you crave something fried try spraying olive oil on it then bake it, I do that with sweet potato slices and add bbq seasoning to taste like fries. I have given up all sweet drinks, margaritas and such. I only have one drink if we go out and I've switched to grapefruit juice and vodka. I have a girls weekend in Palm Desert this weekend and got my juice and vodka ready to go! I'll be doubling my workouts next week to make up for it though. Hows the diet and workout going? do you start today or did you start over the weekend?

Thanks for asking!! I started saturday and road my bike about 8miles. I also ate VERY well over the weekend. I'm at work now but a co-worker and I just walked 2 miles for lunch. I'll bike ride this evening as well (maybe 4-8miles depending on the weather) then do my "home" ab workout. I had a wrap for lunch (turkey on spinich bread) and I'm working on a large bottle of water!!

we take chicken breast strips...dip them in 2% milk...roll them in bread crumbs...and then put them in the oven. it is not quite as good as real fried chicken. but it's close enough. you can get creative with your bread crumbs if you like by adding different spices.

ooh! I love fried chicken but I eat it prob only twice a year and when I do it really messes up my system. I feel like garbage for 2-3 days after I eat it...

I find I have the same problem....back years ago when I lived at home with my parents, we'd have red meat probably once a week, but then when I went off to college (and ever since then....), I've very rarely had red meat. At first it wasn't a conscious choice, just something I noticed I ate much less often....then when I got out of school, I couldn't justify the price of red meat, so I stuck with chicken....now, I've just continued avoiding it both for the price and for the nutritional value. Every time I eat some, I end up feeling like crap pretty quickly after, so I pretty much just stay away from it. I was really craving a hamburger a couple weeks ago, but that was before the wedding so it was off limits anyways....

I had that problems before and thought was the fat in the meat. I just kept eating red meat until I didn't get sick from it. Now, I eat hamburgers or something once a week so I won't get sick when I eat out. By the way, pork is actually pretty low in fat. Learn that from watching 'Good Eats.'

I can't eat anything fried anymore. I've tried, only to get a really bad stomach ache that evening or the next day. I'll have one french fry from someone else's plate, and that's about it for my tolerance.

I don't know what I would do if I couldn't have a steak once in a while. I can only eat really lean cuts though. I'll get a baseball cut filet and butterfly it and that's it for the red meat.

I always feel lousy after eating red meat, fried foods, and chicken (including eggs). I still eat plenty of chicken but have pretty well eliminated red meat from my diet which I suppose is good considering it is not all that healthy for you.

I feel best when I eat only vegetables, bread and tortillas, and salads. So, here I am sitting at work eating rice, chicken taquitos, and chips.
