New routine, courtesy of this month's Men's Health magazine

I just got back from doing this routine, and i'm very happy with the energy i had to exert, that i thought i'd share it with everyone here.

If you read Men's Health, it's in this month's magazine (the one with Mark Wahlberg on the cover). If not, I'll write down the routine, and try to scan the article later tonight.

First off, go to your local hardware store and buy a 50lb sandbag (yeah, i know, right? Just keep reading)

Now that you've got your sandbag, here's the routine:
1. place the sandbag on the floor, feet shoulder width apart. Bend over at the waist, with a slight bend in your knees, until you can grab the bag at the sides. Then, in one explosive motion, rise to a standing position by extending your legs, moving your hips forward, and pull the bag over your right shoulder. Repeat for 6-8 reps, then switch sides.

Rest 1 minute.

2. Grab the sandbag in a bearhug, tightly around your chest, and walk for 30-60 seconds.

Rest 1 minute.

3. Again, feet shoulder-width apart, bend over to reach the bag as in Exercise 1, but this time, perform rows. Do 8-10 reps.

Rest 1 minute

4. Grab the bag in a bearhug, tightly against your chest. Do 10 squats.

Rest 1 minute, and then repeat the cycle for 3-6 times.

Again, I just finished this routine, but instead of resting a minute, i did 10 pushups between sets, and then did 1 minute of jump-rope after the squats, for 3 cycles. Needless to say, it was sooo much more tiring than i anticipated!

Give it a shot, I look forward to seeing who else tries this routine.

John

this is the home made version of clean and presses, just without the bear hugging part and you just press the bar over your head. you do it with the squat/bench bar in the gym but this is a good home version. its a good full body blast work out. good find, I might try this to bang out at home on off days
