Deadlifts

Finally got back into working out about a month ago...strength is coming back...last night worked back and did deadlifts

135x5
135x5
185x5
225x5
275x3
275x3

Next week going to try and pull 315, which shouldn't be a problem.

Good lift. Whats your workout goals, you training for strength only, size or both? ...... Have not done deads in almost 2yrs, due to back injury. However, I still go pretty heavy on squats. Someday I may start deads again.

I love deadlifts. Of course being a girl I can't lift near the weight you guys do, but it surprises me more girls don't do them, I think they work wonders. I also do alot of squats, I see more girls doing them than deadlifts. I use the machine though and most of the girls I see doing them are using the body bar...I think its 8 or 10 lbs. or no weight.

Currently I'm just getting back into lifting after a long hiatus after a car accident in the G. Hurt my back and stopped lifting consistently for about a year. Right now I'm just trying to get my strength back. Training for strength and stay about the same weight and lower bf to about 10%...currently 187lbs and want to hover around 190lbs.

Yeah I lost most of my strength in bench, but my squats/deads didn't lose that much.

Sumo or conventional? Nice to hear someone doing deads. Most look at you like you're from another planet when you do deads and drop the bar on the platform. lol

Good to see your on your way back. Muscle memory helps gets your strength back sooner than you think. Just watch that back when doing deads. ......... Had a bulging disc and nerve damage in Feb '07, was difficult to eat and walk, so was out of gym for about 9 months. I use to be a regular on this forum until that injury. Lost about 40lbs, down to 180lb. Getting back up slowly, now at around 212-215lb.

I do conventional deadlifts...always with good form. I never sacrifice good form for more weight. Also never drop the weight...always place it down gently.

I would stay at 275 until you can get at least 6-8 reps, and then move on to 315.

Personally with deadlifts I never go above 5-6 reps. No need for high volume w/ these type of exercises IMO.
