Spinning

Anyone take part in any spinning classes? I tried out my first one today, and I must say it was awesome! The class was tough, I was sweaty, but overall it was exhilirating (and maybe even a little addicting!).

I do cardio and lifting on a regular basis, but figured I'd switch it up a bit since I was starting to get a little bored. A friend of mine suggested trying a spin class, and I'm so glad I did. I think I'm going to try out some other classes as well (24 hour fitness has loads of classes, most of which look like they could be interesting). This was just what I needed to really get back into it and not be bored.

Anyone else do spin classes? Or have other suggestions of classes that could be fun and interesting? Anyways, kind of a pointless post, but figured I'd let anyone who may be on the fence about trying a spin class out know that it's totally worth it. It'll probably kick your ***, but that's part of the fun!

I'm thinkin about taking some classes. My gf does Yoga and 24Lift classes, and one of the Yoga instructors is a pretty hot 1/2 azn 1/2 white chick.

I've been taking spin classes for about 12 years. I love them. I take 3 a week, then ride outside at least once a week. If you plan on sticking with it I would suggest getting a pair of cycling shoes, nothing fancy just basic and check with the instructor for they clip type. Most spin bikes are SPD clips. It makes the class an entirely different experience, you can feel more firing in your quads and calves. Also be sure to get a pair of padded shorts, for the more tender parts! It's an awesome workout and you will become addicted. Have fun!

Heh, yeah, I noticed that....my butt bones hurt today, but while we were in the class, I kept thinking "I really need to wear longer shorts or pants!" So I will definitely be investing in some new workout clothing for this specific activity!

I noticed our instructor was wearing Sidi cycling shoes....Sidi is the brand that makes the motorcycle boot I wear, so I imagine they are awesome shoes (because the boot cannot be beaten in my mind!). After I build up some more stamina, I'd like to do the classes a couple times a week in addition to my normal routine. I was just getting bored, so this is a fun way to keep myself in it!

I bought my daughter a pair of cycling shoes for 39.00. They were Shimano, good enough for class and they had a little flexibility. My Shoes are Pearl Izumi, I had to get a very stiff shoe since I've had some problems and surgery on one of my feet. You really don't have to have anything too expensive. I also got her a padded seat cover at Walmart for 12.00, it fits over the seat and has a little draw string, gel filled. She refuses to wear padded shorts, makes fun of me until she took a class...haha! She just uses the seat and it works fine. Shorts aren't very cheap so thats another alternative.
