Question about cardio!

I need some input.

Should I do the treadmill for about 30-40 minutes at so so speed, or run the mile at a high intensity(should only be between 8-9 mins according to the treadmill). What's the best route to take? Trying to lose some fat.

to lose fat, you are better off with the lower intensity longer duration cardio

You will burn a lot more calories running easily for 40 minutes than fast for 8-9 minutes. Somewhere around 400-600 versus 100-125 or so depending on your pace and your size.

One of the easiest ways to burn off fat, or calories, is to change speeds throughout your workout. If you can, or plan on, running for 45 minutes, warmup for 10 minutes, then go 3/4 speed for 5, then go normal for 10, then go hard for 10, then go normal for 5, then go hard for 5, etc, etc. That is one of the easiest ways to burn off fat, and raise your heartrate. People who run at the same speed for a long time, dont do anything after about 15-20 minutes. Yes, you burn, but you significantly drop after 15 minutes, the amount you burn off.

Damn, it gets so boring when I'm on the treadmill. Oh well, I'll just try doing longer periods.

so 20 min at various speed is better than 30-45 mins at a constant normal pace? I much rather do 20 than 45. Treadmills are boring unless there's a hottie nearby to check out while you run.

yeah there was a study that showed like 25 mins of interval was more effective than 60 mins of steady cardio

you won't be bored with HIIT, trust me.

here's a basic outline of how you can do it (you can change it up however you want): 2 minutes of warm-up at moderate intensity >> 20 seconds of balls to the wall (all you fvcking got!) >> 1 minute cool down at low intensity >> repeat 20 seconds of insanity >> 1 minute cool down >> after you've reached 15 minutes of doing the cycle, cool down for about 3-5 minutes and you're done.

Nailed it! I lost 30 pounds in 2.5 months doing 30-45 minutes of treadmill 3 times a day. I had the incline at 8 and speed at 3-4 miles an hour.

This information isn't factually correct.
