What Do You Struggle With?

The thing I struggle with most is eating late at night. I am a late night person and sometimes I just really feel like snacking at night. My main weakness in the past has been chips, but I rarely eat them any more. Most of my snacks at night are things like whole wheat pita and hummus or whole wheat pita and spinach dip. It's much better than eating chips, but I'd like to get away from not eating at all during the evening. I find it hard sometimes though.

What do you struggle with?

My metabolism. Seriously, I gotta work my azz off (literally) to lose 4-5 pounds, it comes back right away if I lay off and just sort of stays there if I don't do much of anything. Doesn't help my motivation. The other thing is consistency.

FWIW, if you must eat anything after 6:00 pm, make it protein - yogurt, cheese, etc., instead of carbs.

I struggle with stress eating...

Generally, I eat very healthy...but when I'm under the gun at work, or in a similarly stressful situation, I head right for my sweet, tangy panacea - Twerpz.

Most women find solace in chocolate - what can I say?

i also eat too fast. if i slowed down, i would probably enjoy my food more and end up eating less

I do that too now Shane. When I was able to train more seriously I didn't do it and it was actually easy to resist. My brain only wanted to do the right things.

Now I falter a lot easier although it's not a big problem. As Wayne said part of the solution is finding the right thing to eat. Celery for example burns more calories to chew/digest than the food itself.

The real solution is to change a habit through substitution. We need to learn to do something different when that munchie feeling comes.

Eating carbs at night is not bad. If it puts you into a caloric excess, then you can gain weight from that. But if it's within your caloric needs, then no issues.
