body detox

Anyone know of a way to detoxify? This isn't to pass a drug test or anything like that. I DO NOT do drugs nor do I drink alcohol, but I DO smoke cigarettes. This is really just to feel better. Is there a product out there to rid you of toxins?

Green tea is supposed to do this I believe but looking for something a little stronger. Not KINOKI pads either, lol.

Is CoQ10 helpful for detox?

Daily I take a multivitamin, fish oil, CoQ10, B complex supplement.

Green or black tea, flaxseed (ground) better concentration then oil, garlic, greens (soluble). Then there is cayenne, milk thistle and a few others that serve different purposes.

CoQ-10 is intended for heart health and B vitamins are supposed to stimulate metabolism.

The first few I mentioned do a pretty good job. Make sure you drink a lot of water that is a good way to filter your kidneys and liver.

yeah, good suggestions.

I drink a ton of water, about 2 litres a day.

I guess I was looking for a supplement of some sort. Something specific to counter these damn cigarettes.

Maybe I could just quit smoking. lol.

2 Litres is okay, but try to get it up to 1 gallon (approx 3.75 litres). Normally, I try to drink 1 - 1.5 gallons a day. This is really helpful for detoxifying.

Like you said stop smoking. Cigs are just bad news.

There are a ton of detox pills and such out there. Some aren't bad, as they do have some good things in them. Someone mentioned milk thistle, and that is great for detoxing your liver.

They key in a detox though is tons of fresh fruits and veggies(preferably raw or steamed) and lots of water. I do a detox about 2-3 times a year for two weeks at a time. Just long enough to go hard core during this time. No alcohol, no sugar, no meat, no dairy, very little carbs, and stay away from wheat/gluten. I don't work out(working out only makes your body spend energy on recovery instead of detoxing), lots of sleep, and add more fiber to your diet. If you want to get one of the pills they don't hurt anything, but just make sure you have enough fiber. That way your body will work on getting the toxins out in the open, and the fiber will flush them away.

This is not an easy process...thus why I only do it for two weeks. But it works for me personally.

Jury is still out on the Master Cleanse and whether it actually can harm you or not. I almost started it last year, but also know that after you do the Master Cleanse, you have another few days or more depending on how your body reacts to start getting back into eating normally and not just drinking their Maple Syrup lemonade with Cayane powder.

A lot of people say toxins accumulate within your body, but what exactly are these toxic substances? Where do they accumulate? How are they expelled?
I think it's a lot of mumbo jumbo created by marketing gurus to help sell products. Terms such as "mucoid plaque" which are the imaginary 10-15lbs of undigested matter in your digestive tract.

I think if you just lead a life of eating clean, wholesome foods and stay away from processed foods as much as possible, you'll be ok. High fiber is always good.

I'd like to hear more on why you want to "detoxify" and what the purported benefits are?

Do you change your air filter, oil filter or oil in your car?

Same principle. The notion is that there are so many toxins in our food, air and environment these days that are body is never fully able to process these out.

The body actually can naturally flush toxins for the most part on their own, but our diets and foods over the years have gotten to the point where our bodies never have the time to fully clear the system.

Detox diets tend to be the most effective. These pretty much give a controlled flow of calories from organic sources and really just give the body a couple of weeks where it is not dealing with a constant inflow of toxins, so it can also flush up any of the stuff that has build up or is in excess.

There are some supplement form detoxes as well that can help, but are not as effective if diet has not changed.

Chelation is another more expensive form that tries to stimulate the process.

Benefits, like your car, a smoother running you, improved energy, cleaner skin, and even weight loss, etc. (not that your car loses weight, but one benefit under a detox, is your body processes food more efficiently)

Filters and oil in my car... the answer is obvious - yes. I've never changed/replaced any filters or fluids in my body though.

Is there any science behind this "notion" or just the assumption everyone has all these bad toxins that need to be removed? From what you're describing a person's diet is the major factor. How does the air and environment fit into this detoxification?
