Try Splenda, just as good as sugar.

Are you talking refined sugar?

Most days none. Periodically I'll have some cereal with small amounts in it.

Natural sugar like honey, apples etc yes.

Yes, refined. I eat a lot of fruits so there are some days I don't know how much natural sugar I eat. However, I try to keep the refined sugar to a minimum.

Same plan here as well as with processed foods. What is happening lately is food companies are slipping in more sugar to substitute for lower fat and sodium etc to help boost the taste.

I average about 6 little cubes of sugar per week for my coffee, and I don't eat a lot of sweets. I honestly have no idea though.

Yeah, I am on a low carb diet and I try to keep refined sugar to a minimum. Splenta is my substitue of choice right now. Doesn't taste the same, but its a sacrifice.

I'm eating a cherry chocolate chip granola bar right now. It's got 8g of sugar. Is that pretty bad? I'm clueless about health stuff. How much is a safe amount for a day?

Stay away from granola bars. Full of sugar and carbs which is not good.

Unless you can burn it off like Michael Phelps.

You get used to the Splenda pretty quickly usually. I buy sweet tea here made by one of the hometown fast food places (they sell it by the gallon in the store) and until recently I bought the regular kind. I switched over to the Splenda version recently and I now prefer it. I didn't want to switch but when I saw how much sugar I was taking in - I almost had a heart attack!

I drink gallon every 2 days or so and at 22 grams of sugar per 8 oz serving it was a calorie count KILLER!

Just remember that Splenda is NOT really calorie free. It is less than 1 calorie per serving so not actually completely sugar free. It's the best sugar alternative IMHO.

I have a friend who has an allergy to refined sugar - she actually gets physically ill. She has become quite accomplished at baking with Splenda because of it though

You can't discount the fiber in most of them though. It's the net carbs that you have to worry about. Total carbs - dietary fiber = net carbs.

Some granola bars are more candy than anything else but many of them are great sources of fiber and protein.
