Moving Along... how do you stay fit?

Let's move it along people... time to get back to finer living.

So how do you stay fit?

In order for me to stay fit, I have to be fit to begin with. So for me, its technically, how have I not become obese.

I love food way too much to turn it down. Pasta and fresh rice are my nemesis. When it was warm outside, I used to run for an hour everyday. To lose weight and actually get in shape, I need to do some circuit training, but I have zero endurance/stamina anymore. This is why I took up running. I'm hoping to build up my stamina so I can hit the weights again.

A lot of people freak out when they hear I run an hour everyday. For all you people out of shape like me, you need to change your definition of running and "a workout." Get yourself a nice Polar EKG heart rate monitor. Seriously... it helps. You only need to keep your heart rate in the 65-75% of its max for 30-45 minutes. If you are really out of shape, you'll find out that your heart rate reaches this by simply walking. So you can walk for 30-45 minutes. Get yourself an iPod and hop to it!

If you are going over 75% of your max heart rate, then you are over exerting yourself. You should only do that when you become a health nut and want to push your limits. But for beginners and for those who want to progressively live healthier, 65-75% is where its at. A nice Polar hear rate monitor beeps when you fall out of the range letting you know to slow down or speed up. Believe it or not, its almost always telling me to slow down.

Those things are a god send for people allergic to working out.

*disclaimer* By no way am I a fitness expert/personal trainer. Everyone has their own method, and I am just sharing what works for me, based on all the research I have done and after talking with other health freaks.

Welllllll, i was always an athlete but this weather prevent me from playing basektball or tennis! But i workout in the gym 6-7 days a week and eat healthy, i also do 30 minutes to an hour of cardio (Fast pace walking) in the gym.. They say when you run your also burning up hard earned muscle and that walking at a good pace is a body builders best friend, i listened to them and am continuing to lose more and more weight.. Its over 100 lbs now, i went from a 3-4x to a 1xl in Armani Exchange and DKNY and size 36-38 waist, ahhhhhh

Medium paced jogging 1.5 to 2 miles daily followed by an hour work out with wieght training. That has made me loose 15lbs in about two months and my strength is comming back to what it was when I was 5 years younger. Thought that it would be hard to get back in the swing of things, but got a friend to help push me and that really helps.

when i was still in school, i used to lift weights 5-6 days a week and about 1-2 hours per day. ever since i got married, my wife and i jog twice a week for 30 minutes and go to the gym 2-3 times per week. but now that it's winter, we're lucky to go to the gym twice a week and we don't run anymore because it's too cold out.

but it's so true what they say about gaining weight when you get married. i've gained about 10 pounds since i got married 1.5 yrs ago: ( i eat pretty healthy meals (lunch/dinner) but i snack on junk food at night too much....chips, ice cream, etc. my wife is 95 pounds and is a junkfood junkie. she's always buying chips, cookies, etc when she goes grocery shopping and eats it while we're watching dvd's at night. and like most ppl, i CAN'T resist if there's junk food in front of me: (
