finally back in the gym...

arguably not for this topic but since you guys are naggin about finer living not getting much action....

finally went back to the gym after almost two weeks off. (got my G35 almost 2 weeks ago) coincidence? no.

anyways, just wanted to know who all goes to the gym, how often, and for how long, and what do you do.

personally i try and get there 4 or 5 times a week, no specific time or anything, just when i can get there. i'm usually there for about an hour and a half or so and do about a half hour of cardio and an hour of lifting. chest and tris one day and back, bi's, shoulders the other and just alternate.

PS: not only is the summer coming up, now that i've got my G, gotta look hot for all the ladies checkin out the car!

thanks but to tell you the truth i'm a lazy bastard myself.
i've gone on and off for about 5 years, never stick with it more than a few months, then stop for a while.
just pick yourself up and go once, i guarantee you'll want to go after that.
most people find that the truth, once you get over the initial hump of going you'll want to keep going. its just the things that keep you from going (ie: getting my G) that have us stop for a little bit and then its hard to get back into, but once you're there its easy.

yeah i know i feel ya, especially lifting...after the initial going, such a slow process.
but luckily i've been trying to loose some weight the past few months.
was able to see the numbers and that helped. went from 210 to 195 in the past 2 months. (i'm 6'1") so approximately where i want to be.

4 days for me. About an hour to hour and a half a day. Do one group one day, do the other group the very next day. Then take a day break, and then do it one more round. Then the weekend arrives, go get hammered, and then start all over on Sunday.

Man, back in my ealy 20's I pratically live in the Gym. Sometimes did double-split routines, so was in gym in morning to do a major body part, and back in evening to do another. 6 days a week. Now in my 30's, only come in maybe 4-5 days, and just train to maintain. Dont lift as crazy heavy as I use to, but still go somewhat heavy on sguats, deads and bench presses. Also had some injuries last couple years, so Im actually still trying to work my way back up.

About a year ago, I was doing cardio and lifting. I went 4 or 5 days a week. I'd spin, run, and lift with alternating schedules. When I was in college, I was lifting quite a bit. Nowadays, I sit on my *** and play Xbox or PS2. I hear ya, I need to get back in the gym and throw up the el-bees on the bench. It's been months...

Ive been going to the local gym about 4 days a week also for the past 4 years. Staying in shape is a priority over everything in my life right now. I dont want to become a huge guy just want to stay toned. I use free weights and do one muscle part a day for about an hour, but if you do not do anytype of cardio such as running, playing basketball etc thats not cutting it. I play basketball 3 times a week, play tennis on a team, and run at the local park once a week.

I don't see a leg workout in your split?!?

I workout 3-4 times a week. Workouts consist mainly of compound movements: squats, deadlifts, pullups, military press, dips, bench, bentover barbell row.

I go about 3 to 4 times a week... 30mins Cardio, then 2 body parts, then abs for 15-20 mins....

The hardest part is getting the motivation to actually get off your a** and go to the gym.. Once i walk in the door im fina and always feel great when im done.... Not trying to be ripped Arnold guy, just like my clothes to fit comfortably and be toned...

Ok going to the gym (in my just waxed G)....later.

ahhh....all the free time in the world when you're young and still in school. i used to go 6 days a weeks for about 2 hours/day when i was in college. now, after getting married and opening up a business, i'm lucky if i go twice a week. i want to go minimum 3 days/week but can never get around to it. so, i usually end up jogging about 30-40 minutes late night when i can't go to the gym and i do what i can at home with my dumb bells (e.g. situps, pushups, curls, etc.).

Just started back myself. I was a personal trainer right after high school (many years ago) and lifted heavily in college. After chasing tail at the bars for years, I've rededicated myself to the gym permanently. After seeing everyone with the guts at the office, I never want to look like that, so I've got the motivation Stay with it!

Edit: Oh yeah, 4 day splits.

Chest/bis, legs, back/forearms, shoulders/tris, with a days rest in between the 4. 5-6 meals a day, 1 gram of protein per body lb a day, all sets to failure, never overtrain, cardio and ab work every other day of the week independent of the lifting. No junk food + no beer + workouts = iron.

No beer is tough, but just make up for it with lots of sex
