My workout program
Decided to start a new thread detailing my workout program and what it's based off of. Several people have never heard of the 5x5 program. Basically I do just the big 3 exercises (or a variation of) 3 times a week.
Squats, deadlifts, and bench. quoted from elitefitness.com Quote:

What about your cardio? You bike? Jog? Walk? Swim? What's your preference?
I rarely lift anymore (used to be big into it when I was younger and on the ship - lots of time on my hands and not much else to focus on). Nowadays I do lots of calisthenics and I'm primarily a runner. I find it more useful and beneficial to my overall health to work the heart/lungs and build stamina in my muscles than build bulk. This seems like a good program for someone who leans more toward complete body-strength/end-strength than the cosmetic BB trend prevalent in society today.

Seems like you just quoted someone else's workout program and their thoughts behind it, not too much about what you do except for the excercises you do. What about how much weight, repetitions, rest time?

I stated my workout in a previous post. I apologize I should have put it in here too. Lots of people were saying that they've never heard of this type of program before, so I thought I would create a separate post with some more detailed information regarding the theory behind it.

Right now I'm trying to gain weight, so cardio is only about 20 minutes twice a week on the treadmill. Once I get to about 220, I'll increase cardio to lower body fat to sub 10% levels.

Very interesting. I've always been a "single factor" kind of guy.
![]() I think I'm going to give this a try.

I used to be all gung ho into trying to bulk up. Right now I focus mostly on trying to be strong and in good overall fitness. The thing that kills me with bulking up is the diet. You have to eat the right things otherwise all that work is for nothing. I just don't have time to cook all that stuff which kind of sucks. Good luck though!
