The Truth About Steroids? What do you think?
A guy in my speech class give a very convincing argument regarding the use and legality of steroids. One of the things he said is if people are allowed to harm their body by smoking, drinking, eating badly...who are we to look down on people who have dedicated themselves to eating healthy, working out religiously, and use Steroids as a supplement to get themselves to that next level?
Doctors use steroids for patients who have situations where they need to put on muscle/weight, and no long term side effects have been shown. If Tiger Woods uses a golf club that no one else has the money or the ability to get, is that cheating? Wouldn't that be considered an unfair advantage? We all know about the health risks associated with steroid use such as; heart attacks, "roid rage", acne, changing bone structure, etc... Do these side effects come from steroid abuse and stacking? Would some one still be subject to the more extreme side effects if they chose a more subtle steroid to take and just did one cycle? If any of you guys have ever taken them, or know people who have, please feel free to share any knowledge, experience, etc... on this matter. Also, any of you guys who are against steroids please feel free to chime in and give your .2 cents...but please no flaming. Thankyou |

with proper cycling you have a higher chacne of dying from smoking that from jucing. however the key operative word is PROPER. 99.99% of the population out there just thinks it's as simple as sticking a needle in their *** everyday and that's that.
THAT"S the reason there's so much negativity behind it - ****ing morons using it with no clue about proper cycle struturee.

My mother is a dietician and a trainer and, while she believes steroids are simply not supposed to be used, she has conceded that with proper cycling the use may not be as dangerous as we are all lead to believe. Personally, I don't think I could use them, but that's just it- it's a personal decision. I do cardio, sculpting, and abs and run a minimum of four days a week and I'm fine with that- I have no real justification for looking down on those who would juice, other than seeing it as an attempt at an easy way to excel. But who doesn't want to take a shorcut, if just for a moment? I just think that those who would use juice would really sit down and read up on the specific product they plan on using and the possible side effects.

even steroids used as directed by your physician may lead to long term side effects (i.e. glaucoma risk, premature cataracts, decreased immune response, etc). but more importantly, most athletes and weightlifters who are juicing do NOT follow the recommended dosage and load up on steroids. often, they not only take injectable steroids but also oral steroids and often take 5-10 times the recommended dosage for maximum and unnatural gains. herein are the dangers associated with its usage. as far as the "roid rage", there have been many studies that state it truly doesn't exist.

As some one who used steroids in the past (3 consecutive years), its totally not worth it. I mean I did every thing right, kept my blood pressure in check, took tons of supplements to protect my liver, cycled on and off, measured every ounce of food I put into my body, spent at least 2 hours a day 6 days a week in the gym. Last summer I was 230lbs at 12% body fat, benching 365+lbs, squatting 550+lbs, getting that "out of the corner of the eye" look from everyone at the gym. And if I had to go back and do it again, you could'nt pay me to shoot up. First of all you have to worry about the roid rage, it's not a myth it happens, I once followed some one who cut me off for a half hour before calming down enough to realize what I was doing. You get acne X10, you are always worried that after your cycle is done are your balls going to grow back to normal (even with proper post cycle meds), I mean the list goes on and on. And now that I have not used in over a year, I have lost much of that muscle and strength. I only weigh 200lbs now, but I deffenitely feel healthier. I will never put down some one who uses correctly though, because most people dont realize its not as simple as sticking a needle in your *** and becoming the incredible hulk, you have to BUST your *** 3 times as hard if you want to see any real benefit. But I would'nt recommend it to any one, unless your like 50+ years old and dont car about having kids and stuff like that lol

I see the point about smoking and drinking, etc...but bodybuilding and working out is about making you healthier and adding a few lbs of muscle in the process. I think the use of steriods defeats the whole purpose of working out to get healthier. It's like driving a race track with your foot on the brake the whole time, it doesn't make sense.
I personally use products like NO-Xplode and have great results with them. Yea it makes me jittery, but my workouts are great. Creatine based products have been proven to be safe and effective. I would look towards those if you need to get to the "next level" |

its more like driving on a racetrack with an engine built for so much speed that it will deteriorate after a race or two and have to be rebuilt (although human bodies can't be rebuilt). So this is exactly what race teams do!
I just noticed someone said you have a higher chance of dying from smoking with proper cycling. I think, even if this is true, it is illogical to use this as an argument for the safety of steroids. Since cigaretts are one of the most deadly things people do to themseleves, just about anything will give you less of a chance of dying. Moreover, it is illogical to believe that the safety of a product or the freedom to do detriment to one's own body will explain the legality of a substance. It is more of a tradition/political power/appeal to the least common denominator type of thing. This explains why cigarettes and alcohol are legal. |

Good question. Is taking a small cycle even beneficial? Or is it just completely a waste of time? |

If you consider even taking a little bit be prepared because thats how I started out..."oh, just one small cycle here and thats it" and then another one, and another one etc. And doing just one small cycle will mostl likely get you next to nothing in terms of gains. Trust me, avoid them all together, you will thank your self later on in life.
Since my business is supplement retail, I'll give you a break down of my favorite products that I have used: Pre Workout: NO-XPLODE, SuperPump250, Fast Twitch (either one is really good) Creatine: Cell Mass (most muscle I have gained naturally, great product) Nitric Oxide: NO2, Nitrix, VasoXP (use these when your trying to get the ripped veiny look, dont expect much in terms of muscle gains) Testosterone: Tribex500, T-Bomb2 (DO NOT take unless your at least 20, teenagers already have through the roof Testosterone levels)(They will help with size and strength gains) Glutamine: Use this when on a restricted calorie diet to ensure that hard earned muscle does'nt wast away.(Any brand is fine) ZMA Helps with a good nights rest, plus you dont wake up so sore the next day.(Any brand is fine) Protein:Anything thing that is 100% Whey protein for after your work out. And a good Meal Replacement shake such as Myoplex, MetRX, MesoTech, Muscle Milk. These are good to ensure you are getting enough calories and nutrients through out the day to cause growth in your muscles. Hope this helps, STAY NATURAL

I have been going to the gym religiously for 21 years. I have had two national champion workout partners who both used juice. I have never used. I have looked pretty good at times, they looked amazing. I have my health, they no longer do. I still look pretty good for 48. They look like they are dying. One of them, Jack, has had 3 heart attacks directly linked to long term steroid use. Another friend, Rob, , a 27 year old paramedic (who started taking steroids for Crones) developed an amazing physique. He was charged with multiple assult related charges over a two year period due to roid rage. His heart exploded last spring (directly linked to steroid use). Fancy that the crones didn't kill him but the theraputic drug utimately did. My brother-in-law (a high ranking cop) has seen the medical examiners report which came to this conclusion, he shared this with me because Rob was a friend.
The acne, roid rage and the multitude of moderate to severe physical side effects are what kept me away from it. For those that wish to reach a certain level in body building, that can only be acheived through drug use. It is an individual choice whether or not it is worth it. To deny the side effects though is rediculous. They are well documented. Use if you wish but understand the risks vs. benefit. Does your ego need this kind of boost or is the choice a professional one. The risks are fairly extreme for recreational body builders. |
