People who workout? What protein shakes and/or supplements do you recommend?
Hey guys....I just started working out/lifting again. Man it's been a while. Anyhow....anyone recommend any good protein shakes and/or supplements? If so, where is a good place I can purchase them for cheap? My friend recommended www.fitrx.com. But I was wondering if anyone else had other sources.
Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks in advance!

Protein Isolate is what I use and recommend. I mix it with dextrose after a workout (about 1.5:1 dex to pro ratio). I also recommend a glucosamine & chondroitin suppliment to strengthen and lube your joints (1000mg to 1500mg per day, depending on your size and age). Make sure it's sulfate, and make sure it's doesn't say "KCI" or "2KCI", which are inferior products. Also take fish oil if you're not eating much fish. From the bottle is better than capsules. I recommend Carlson's or Spectrum.

Cool. Thanks! Yeah I eat healthy to began with. Usually oatmeal in the morning, a good lunch which means NO fast food! I never drink soda, usually drink about a good 1 liter worth of water a day....so I'd say I eat pretty healthy.

Cool. Looks like you have your diet in control. I know it's a pain, but if you don't/haven't already, track your caloric intake (break it down by macronutrient) for a month or two. You might be surprised at how little (or much) carbs, protein, or fat you're eating. Then you adjust accordingly. 40 20 ratio (p:c:f) is usually right for men who are on a lifting routine.

LOL! Yeah. Lots of negativity coming from a guy who eats pizza and calzones for lunch, never works out, but keeps a 5lb tub of protein powder under his desk at work. ![]()

Not being negative at all, I'm all for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I DO think however that all these "supplements" are a waste of money BS. There were plenty of body builders before these supplements came out, and there will be plenty more after them.... My father in his twenties had a body that could easily put him on the front cover of any body building magazine, yet he didn't take any of that artificial crap (call it natural all you want, it still processed). Now, remind me when was the last time I had pizza or calzone for lunch? - must have been 3 months ago for the calzone, and pizza... I can't even remember when was the last time I ordered one. As to the 5lb tub of protein under my desk. True, I have it because I bought into your crap last year. I used maybe a 1/4 of it, the rest of it is still there. Haven't taken that in half a year. Want it? ![]() |
