My Healthy Snack

This isn't a recipe by any means, but it's a healthy snack. I cut out eating potato chips quite some time ago. I don't eat sweets and candy whatsoever, but I really loved my chips. Obviously chips aren't all that good for you so I had to find another snack that tasted good and is good for you.

What I found that I really like is whole wheat pita dipped in hummus. The kind of hummus that I have been buying is a roasted red pepper and garlic hummus. It might not sound all that good to some, but it's really a tasty snack.........and much better than eating a bag of chips.

Here's a pic. For two Tablespoons of hummus, it has 45 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 2 grams of carbs.

I love cottage cheese. My breakfast every morning during the week is an orange and a banana. I even have a banana tree in my house, but it's not big enough yet to produce bananas.

A banana tree? that's kewl Shane! I'm surprised it doesn't freeze to death during the winter time.

That's all you have for breakfast? I have to have some protein for breakfast. For example, I eat about 2 or 3 turkey sausages or some egg whites and I usually have plain oatmeal w/ skim milk.

My lunch's pretty big too. For example, I had taco salad yessterday with ground turkey instead of ground beef and have to have guacamole! Then dinner's usually light like a chicken salad or something like it.

LOL, my banana tree is indoors during the winter and I put it out on my patio during the summer.

Yeah, all I eat for breakfast during the week is an orange and a banana........and a couple of black coffees as well. I used to eat bacon and eggs every weekend, but I only eat that once in a while now. I am looking to lose a few pounds (I'm only 161 lbs though) but my main motivation for eating more proper is to make sure my daughter doesn't develop p!ss poor eating habits.

mmm, I LOVE hummus, add hot (especially freshly baked) pita and its absolutely delicious.

I also like almonds, though I like to put them into some water overnight, then peel the 'skin' off...makes it taste way better IMO.
