Who Makes The Meals In The House?

So who makes the majority of the meals in the house?

Both my wife and I enjoy cooking good meals and fortunately are both pretty decent at it. My wife has been on maternity leave for the last 11 months so she's done about 70% of the cooking since she is home. She pretty much does most of the cooking during the week and I handle the weekend cooking.

When we were both working, and she goes back to work next month, it was probably reversed where I cooked 70% of the meals. I just really enjoy cooking a nice meal. I know a number of couples where the man is completely useless in a kitchen and it's up to the woman to cook everything. Having said that, I also know a few couples where both of them are useless in a kitchen.

Raises hand.

Fortunately my other half more than makes up for it. Great that you're both handy and interested in the kitchen.

I enjoy cooking and do it 5-6 nights a week.

BTW Shane, 11 months of maternity leave!? Must be nice up there in Canada, I think the most women can take here is like 3-4 months

Since I retired almost 6 years ago, I probably do 70 % of the cooking, since Karen is still working. Sometimes I really enjoy cooking up something special and surprising her with a nice bottle of wine and a great meal.
When we are home together quite often we work together in the kitchen doing the prep work and I will do the actual cooking.
Before I retired I would only do the barbequing and I would only cook the odd meal inside..

Ah, sounds like you are a big chef yourself cooking most of the meals.

Yeah, the Moms up here currently get 12 months maternity leave with talks/rumours of it going to 24 months.

Nice, I do the same Wayne. There is something about cooking your wife a romantic dinner with a nice glass of wine......I love doing that.

Good job Wayne. That's great you really enjoy it. Maybe my time is yet to come. I've worked myself up to preparing a salad regularly so far.

Thanks Deane, funny you mention salads, that is the one thing I don't make, Karen always makes the salad .
LOL, before I retired I was mainly the taste-tester

No other half. I cook everything.
I'd kill for someone to cook for me.

Gillian, I'd gladly fly out there to cook for you if you took care of a few morons in my office.
