Mine goes like this;one year, I was charge in baking a turkey. I preheated the oven then when it was for me to put the big bird in, the oven wasn't hot at all. So I cranked up the temp. 5 minutes later it was the same. I thought well, this is an old oven so it must be taking long time to get it preheated. So I put the turkey in. After so many hours, I wanted to baste the bird. WTF it still was cold to touch. I put back in the oven for longer. Few minutes later, I check back, it was still cold. I mean cold. I thought the oven is not working. But that wasn't it. Do you know what it was? When I cranked up the temp, I put it on broil. That's why oven wasn't heating up. We had Turkey the next day. ![]()

Something I have seen more than once happen in a restaurant:
You toast a hamburger bun and put it on a plate under a heat lamp, you turn around to put the hamburger on just in time to see the waitress taking the empty bun into the dining room to serve it. |

Probably the worst meal I ever cooked was my first time making Lasagna. I bought the pre-cooked lasagna noodles, but for some reason they never got soft. The noodles were still hard as a rock and it really made for a crunchy Lasagna. A complete failure to say the least. I don't buy the pre-cooked noodles any more.
