Wonton Soup Recipe?

My wife and I went to a newly opened Vietnamese restaurant over the weekend and I had the most AMAZING bowl of Wonton Soup. I have never made it before and would like to give it a shot. Does anyone have a good recipe for Wonton Soup that they've tried and have liked?

If you have premade wontons making the soup is easy. Beef broth with garlic, ginger, green onion, and some pepper. You can add chinese broccoli to it if yo want some vegetables. If you need to make wontons take ground pork shoulder, 30-40 count shrimp cut in half, garlic minced, green onions, red pepper flakes, salt, and sesame oil, mix all together in a bowl. take the wonton wrappers wet half the wrapper, take a teaspoon of the mix and place it in the center of the wonton. fold over the wet to the dry part of the wonton. if you want to make it look decorative place the mix in the center and pull the edges to the center to turn it into a meatball shape. after you make your wontons place in the fridge to cool and harden then place into hot broth when ready to eat. chinese pepper oil is a good mix into the soup

Now that you mentioned it I want some. My uncle makes the best Wonton Soup. Makes everything from scratch.

I asked him and he said it was pretty much what g35rcr said. But making the wontons good is a different story(said they were hard to make good).

Thanks for posting your recipe. I am going to give it a try by the end of this week.

You can also throw some chopped cilantro into the mix. My mom also puts shredded carrots to make us eat our veggies. You can also add a little soy sauce then salt the mixture. Good soy can add more flavor.

I made Wonton Soup last night for the first time. I bought pre-made wontons instead of making them myself though. While it turned out very well and was delicious, it wasn't quite as good as what I bought at a local Vietnamese restaurant. I just have lots of fun making new stuff and experimenting with different foods.

At least you got to try it, I looked all over my little town for pre-made wontons and no luck

try adding some cilantro to the stock to give it a zing to the flat wontons...pepper oil helps as well
