What do you guys cook daily?

I always have a hard time deciding what to cook every day and its becoming more of a chore than anything.. often times i just end up ordering out or making instant noodles/mac n cheese/pasta

Nothing. If I feel moved I cook for the week, otherwise I just bum it out.

Buy bulk ground turkey and a bag of rice. Leave a few days worth in the fridge and freeze the rest. Stir fry ground turkey with some garlic salt, pepper, and chili powder if you like spice. Serve with a side of rice and boiled frozen vegetables. An egg over easy or hard goes well with it too.

street taco. super cheap and easy to make.
1. steak meat.. ~$3
2. tortilla (25pc) ~$1.50
3. Onion ~ $0.75
4. Cilantro ~$1
5. Salsa/Hot Sause $3 (but you only use half bottle!!)

Above is enough to feed 3+ people.

or spaghetti,
1. Ragu Chunky version $1.50 (buy the one with onions&garlic, no extra veggies necessary)
2. Angel Hair pasta. $1.50 (buy a decent brand)
3. Shrimp.. ~$14 (bag at costco, only use like 1/5th of the bag)
4. Salsa (leftover from taco night).. this is the secret, you get the spice AND the vegetable in there.

Serves 4+ for under $10

I put something different on the grille every night. The vast majority of my meals this time of year are cooked on the grille. Steaks, chops, ribs, chicken, salmon, skewers with different types of meat, etc. I also grille some type of fresh vegetable to go with it. Zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, onions, carrots, potatoes, etc. I pretty much put freshly garlic on all my veggies.

I am definitely not into quick and easy foods as they are typically quite bad for you. I'd rather take my time making a nice meal with fresh meat and produce than some microwave crap in a box.

Go to the grocery store when you have plenty of time and explore what is there. Take your time, explore the ethnic isle, add things that you have never tried before.

You could write a menu for the week consisting of things you would like to have. Then shop for those items.

Good thread. I live alone while going to school....I seem to purchase new meals everyday. It just seems to be too much work for one person.

Yah...my post is about what I did to get by in college. Bulk meat from any little carniceria is a good deal too. Their marinated chicken is usually pretty good.

+1...

steak (angus only - ribeye, strip, or tenderloin), pork (tenderloin or chops), chicken (boneless breast), fish, pasta, angus ribs (on raceday)... pretty much rotate through the week. box food is generally crap (unless it's velveeta shells and cheese ).

right now working on a blackened chicken alfredo with roasted tomatoes over fettucini topped with asiago or parmesan.

wife and kids love it.

i do not hold back at all on my cooking, and my kids eat great because of it. if they don't like it, i don't cook it.
