HR can't be true dual if the HR Y collects into 1 pipe

I don't see how that's a true dual when that's not an X pipe.

this is what I consider a true dual system.

But I'm up for debate if someone would explain how the HR can be considered a true dual. the only reason I'll give the HR credit is because Hydrazine designed his a similar way.

It looks like the HR collects into 1 pipe and then splits into two pipes (from one pipe). I don't know if I could consider this a X pipe or not.

No not yet. I've been tied up doing so many things the past week. I won't until I return from Atlanta next week.

I'll have to find a good place to go here in Chicago to see what kind of #s I'm putting down at the moment before I add my HFCs.

I want to do a before and after HFC dyno. I don't think I'll do any engine mods for a while after I add those.

Maybe a grounding kit but that's about it for now

just wanted to post up my findings... i saw a guy post up the other day he had a g35 y-pipe OEM, it was a 2007 g35coupe. which i assume has a HR motor in it. He didn't tell me transmission but he showed me a picture. I compared it to dave's 1st pictue and its the one on the left, which had the short tubes and is similiar to the DE motor. so maybe its only on the 350z

The 2007 G coupe is the 1st gen body style therefore it does not have the HR motor.

Installed 350z y-pipe. The other night in the cold, without launching it, i could lay rubber leaving lights. Not a chirp either. Like.... crazy.

Freeway it seemed to pull a lot hard accelerating as well.

Also seems a lot louder. Wow, this mod is worth every penny

I agree brother... it really polishes up the response of this sweet engine.. not so much as a kick-*** horsepower mod.. but rather just bringing out what it already has... think of it as a "tune-up" mod.... it breathes and accelerates at ease at highways speeds.. just touch the pedal.. and it GOES.. effortlessly!!

Finish it off with the 06 Air Box mod and it sings that really sweet "DE" sound from the throat of the engine... very nice!!

Yup! I agree 100%. Now all I need is that 06 airbox and HFC to round off it enine work for now.

Later on I'm thinking I'll add some UR pullies and maybe do some Pulstar plugs to see what else I can squeeze out of it.

At that point I'll get a tune.
Anyone here with Pulstar plugs? How does our motor respond to them in conjunction with this HR-y pipe?

Pulstars have proven themselves to be a farce and in some cases, can wreck the motor. The UDPs are a waste too, IMO. There hasn't been a single dyno I've seen that shows the UDP is worth more than 1whp. I had a UDP on my old VQ30 (same pulley design) and gained no power and actually made car a little slower because it made for a boggy launch with the manual because of the reduced interia of the motor. Then there's that issue of the removing the dampening characteristics of the OEM pulley.
