I just ordered mine from concept performance 10 minutes ago, it will be at my house on Thursday. I also plan on removing the resonator bottle and plugging the hole. That should give a little more sound to the system in combination with the z tube. A MD 5 1/6 spacer is next and that should be it on the intake side. I wish they just sold the velocity stack seperate instead of having to buy another box?

I bought a broken z box with the better v-stack for next to nothing and swapped them over to the G-box. Very easy and cheap.

I pieced a cheap intake together that would give a run for its money compared to any other intake on the market:

Rev-up box: FREEEEEEEE.....OEM on my car 05 G35 6mt Sedan
Z-tube: $25 local my350z member
K&N Filter: $15 local member G35driver

Only other cheap mod that i am still deciding if i want to do is

Wow this is deep so I will only give my opinion on what I no. When I first bought my car the first thing I did was purchase a K&N panel filter. The gain was minimal but I liked the idea of the lifetime filter. Later I purchased the pop charger setup, while it looked great under the hood I noticed a small loss in torque and my intake temps went up about 20-30 degrees at times. I sold the pop charger kit and like a fool purchased another intake (weapons r dragon ) thinking it was different. I installed it and from the start i could tell a drop in hp/trq and the temps were even higher due to the metal tub, it's now for sale by the way after only a month of driving lol. I wisely purchased a z tube and went back to a new oem panel filter and I must honestly say my car drives better and pulls harder than any intake I installed. My intake temps increase 8-10 degrees no matter what the outside temps are.. I feel the addition of the new rev-up box will only help the performance of my car.

I will help the low end response which for any auto owner is exactly what we need. I haven't felt any increase/decrease in the upper rpm performance.

That's great jeff92se, I just found it easier to just purchase one new. It's to hot here in Louisiana to be looking for scraps from another car lol. It's 101 degrees with a heat index of 110 lol. Good find though.

I ordered mine from concept performance.com. It's the Infinity oem rev-up air box 03-06 sedan, 03-07 coupe. It's the same box as the old one except it has the larger velocity stack. I received mine in a couple days and I love it. There is a little more throttle response and it increased the sound a little more compared to the old one. The engine really seems to like it...don't no why they didn't put it on all G35s? the car shifts smoother, and pulls a little stronger through each gear. I can't wait to install the MD 5 1/6 plenum spacer, they should make good power together.

So, a few questions;

1) Is this the exact same part number as the Revup 350z's?

2) Is it only the back part of the housing?

3) Is the front part exactly the same?

4) Across the G35 and 350z, are the airbox/part numbers exactly the same?

Thanks

Reason i ask is to make sure everything fits well, my tuner has found that this makes enough difference to tuning that i'd need another tune if i fitted it after the initial tune.

1) No. 350Z Airbox is different, you can drill out the rivets and use the larger stack on your G airbox though.

2) Yes

3) Yes

4) No. See #1, Z box is different.

who's your tuner? It is highly, highly unlikely that you would see any gains and certainly not to the extent that a re-tune is necessary... is he willing to re-tune for free? If this is anywhere in So Cal, I'd love to be present to see the claimed dyno gains.

I've said it before, and I'll repeat it - if anyone is willing to do a blind test to determine felt gains from driving, I have a non-revup box... we can swap between boxes (with driver unaware of which box) to determine if there are any notable gains.

Tuner is Abbey Motorsports in the UK. It smooths the airflow over the MAF and give a few ponies. This has been testd on many 350'z (they're a 350 specialist)
He's advised me that i should get it before the tune if i'm going to bother getting it at all, as it makes enough difference to the tune to change that.

^^^ Im not l unfamiliar with the slight difference in velocity rings...

With all due respect - I think your tuner is trying to squeeze more money out of you - or simply doesn't mind wasting your money... but hey, if you don't mind either then who am I to judge. But there aren't significant gains, certainly not enough to warrant a retune...

I'm not sure if you're saying you *are* familiar with the difference or you are not. Based on your participation in other threads, i'm assuming you mean you are.

I appreciate you being concerned about me getting screwed, however, as i said, he's nothing to gain from this. I'm not buying it from him and he's said get it before the tune if i want to run it.

His comments were, they don't always make 3-5 brake, but they do help, they are worth fitting.

How easy was it to swap the velocity stack from the 350z box to the stock G box? Did you just drill out the rivets in both and just use the 4 bolts or did you re-rivet it to the G box? I'm buying an '06 350Z airbox today for $40 and I wanted to know how much work it will be.
