You can read all about it on the Motordyne website, but generally, the 5/16 spacer will give more gains in the mid rpm range while the 1/2 spacer will give better gains in the upper RPM range.

And the low to mid gains with the 5/16” is less than the 5K-6.5K gains with the ½”

As with several other mods – with all else equal, it is very doubtful that anyone would know the difference just from driving whether they had a 5/16” or ½” spacer on their car (other than possibly audible)

I'm a fan of the 1/2" spacer. It was a good improvement everywhere over the 5/8" spacer.
