i have a little over 1000miles on my berks with a vortech kit and nismo exhaust, well i was doing some highway pulls tonight to monitor my a/f and then i came back into town and my car sounds quiet and just different...like a deep supra sound when accellerating easy and not boosting, just not the same as before...not sure if its down on power as i came right home and was taking it easy once i noticed it sounded different...starts right up and idles fine sounds normal but giving it gas just souds different...jacked it up no leaks or cracks anywhere...maybe one of the cats is failing and melted or something? dirty maf would not cause the exhaust to sound different right...i don't think the car is misfiring or anything..no cel but like i said i came right home easy, illl have to get it out tomorrow..seems to rev right up quick just sound is not the same..gotta be plugged

Did you notice any drop in fuel economy? Is the Check Engine Light on?

Your metal chip noise is probably the axel click problem that usually plagues all G35 owners at some point during their ownership. If your car is under warranty, there is a TSB that covers the fix for that.

Quieter exhaust...eh? Does the exhaust smell any different than normal? Most G35's don't emit the same exhaust flow from both sides... I believe usually the right side emits more exhaust due to the way it's piped. There's a chance that your catalytic converter system could be clogged, but with only 11K miles on the car, that is very highly unlikely.

Clean your air filter, run some fuel system cleaner through your car at the next fillup, and make sure you're using high octane gas from a quality gas station and not some mom-and-pop watered-down shady station.... and let us know if things change in a few days with the car and its symptoms.

im throwing this as a guess..

flange? hanger? heat shield? on the exhaust?? loose bolt.nut.something rubbing

do u hear a crackling sound after ur stop the car? sometimes its the cat warming up.

OR u got used to the sound, do u feel a big power loss?

for me, with my 03, i got used to the sound, only sound i really hear it purr is on start up...then driving, unless i really rev it up...

i think when we have "nice" cars...we get paranoid of making sure every kink is resolved or there are no problems...he2...

GL in figuring it out

Its gotta be a loose Bolt/nut maybe even gasket needs to be replaced.

I have that metal sound, almost like a piece of bolt or nut was rattling around inside the exhaust, i just now finished finding where the sound was coming from by hitting the exhaust and shaking it, my sound (not sure if this is what your cause is) is coming from the left exhaust tip, where it connects to the rest of the pipe from the catback.

im going to see if the bolts are loose or even if i need to replace the gasket, ill let you know.
