K And N Air Filter
I just recently installed a new K and N air filter at 147,xxx miles. Previous filter was a Fram paper filter. When I accelerate with the new K And N filter, I hear a small noise like air sucking into the engine, similar to that of a turbo. Is it normal since the K and N air filter is less restrictive?

Yes, kind of a squealing noise over 3500rpm?

It's normal. But it will go away after a few days/1 week as the filter gets slightly dirty.

Yea, its around 3000 rpm. It seems the car is performing a bit better than the crappy paper filter has. Like, it picks up acceleration a bit better than usual. Just could not stand having a crappy filter in a nice car.

Just make sure you don't over oil it and add checking the MAF wiring for oil accumulation to the list of maintainence items. I've seen em gunk up over time.
K&N's are good...but I still rock a Fram paper filter.

Oem paper flows well and filters well when they aren't dirty. Once their service life is done, they start to get restrictive.

I run a k&n in everything I own and have owned, but there is no way a k&n filters nearly as well as a fresh paper element. I sell k&ns too, and every single one i've looked through has at least a few massive (in relation to the size of the holes it should have) holes where nasty stuff can come through. Just a rant... K&n oil filters however, are top notch.

But you are right. I've seen arguements against K&N's for that exact reason. One of the reasons why I don't run one in my G35
