Baffle removal - oem air intake

Has anyone tried to remove the oem air intake's baffle instead of buying a ztube?

Sure it wouldn't be hard, chop it off with a saw or dremel then probably wrap it in something with an adhesive but stiff.

You could also get someone to wrap it in CF and spray epoxy on it. Not sure if the amount of time spent doing that would be better than just buying a Z tube for $40

I seriously doubt if anyone has bothered to remove the baffle from the OEM intake, but why would you want to when they're so inexpensive to replace? Doesn't make sense to mess with it....

yeah i saw the ztube in somebody else's car already, looks cheapie, i like the g35 duct tube much better, just trying to have everything looking stock as much as possible,
plus it looks good with the kinetex plenum manifold even with the cover off,

anybody let me know,

Can't imagine which one you saw, the one I have (Stillen sells) is black composite and looks very much like the OEM tube less the baffle. The Kinetex intake is worthless unless you're going FI. (forced induction) What works and doesn't cost as much is MotorDynes spacer ISO, works great and you can keep your engine cover....

I think if you do this, it's going to look like a butchered POS.

Since the Z tube IS and OEM part I don't know how it didn't look stock...

I snapped my baffle off on my OEM tube a while back which gave me the idea to seal it up with a piece from the baffle. It wouldn't be hard to do and you wouldn't see the modded section since it would sit under the tube.

DO IT!
