After I reading this thread I am still not sure on if this M2 Performance Stainless Y-Pipe Exhaust w/ Flex 2008-2012 Infiniti G37 VQ37VHR
will fit my 2006 G35x or not.
If not what Y pipes can I use?
Thanks.
I have an 05x and my ypipe is rusting out and i'm looking at the M2 VQ37VHR, will it fit? I have a Megan Racing OE-RS and stock cats.

Yeah.. I do believe it should.. the wide Y shape of the HR style y-pipes clears the transfer case on the X's just fine. The Motordyne Y-pipes won't, the down pipes are too short and come together to the collector right UNDER the Xfer case.. FAIL!

I ended up getting Fast line muffler (from Toronto) pipe
http://apicdn.viglink.com/api/click?...hid%3D14376916

And it fit my 04 G35X Sedan just fine. Cleared the transfer case just fine. Almost identical to the OEM pipe. Bosal's pipe wasn't stocked in any warehouses locally and would have taken a week to arrive.

Hey guys, I got a few questions. I have to replace my 2004 G35X Y-pipe cuz its rusting badly with holes going through there and different parts to the muffler (flange & pipe broke in half at muffler). I also have a STRONG chemical ammonia smell filling my cabin especially with my windows down & at high speeds. Some people are suggesting its the cats that're gone so I think I have to replace everything from the cats & back.

1) Anybody have rusting issues with the HR Y-pipes?

2) Will this mate up: HR/M2 Y-pipe -> Coupe midpipe -> HKS sport axleback/muffler?

3) What cats can I use for the 04 G35X and to mate up with the HR/M2 Y-pipe?

PS- Awesome thread for X-'ers!

Yup. As far as I can see the Megan is a closer design to the stock HR in regards to the collector. The M2 collector has a longer pipe after the merge. Not exactly sure if its good or bad but I wanted an HR but stock is too expensive new and hard to find used so I went with the Megan

The AAM Y-pipe definitely does not fit on 1st Gen X's. I purchased it last yr. Didn't clear the transfer case

In my opinion the M2 is the best option for me because my y-back section is 3.00" inlet. If you are running stock exhaust (2.5" inlet or so), you might be better off with a stock pipe since you might run into rasp issues with larger diameter going into smaller diameter.

For me, going 2 to 2.5 to 3 is ideal. Once I put the M2 pipe on, I finally felt like my car was "complete," and apart from the occasional rattle exorcism, I haven't modded since.
Have you come into problems with corrosion? And what kind of steel is used? Heard the material sucks
