My exhaust note has taken a turn for the worse.

I have a 2005 6MT sedan. I was running a great cheap exhaust setup for a while now which was: Stock cats and Y-pipe > Coupe midpipe with a 2.5" Moroso spiral-max racing muffler in place of the stock coupe resonator > muffler delete. My muffler delete was just a custom 2.5" piece I welded up with a tip. It sounded great with such a tiny amount of drone.
Well the Moroso muffler rotted out recently and I had to replace the midpipe. I bought a Bosal midpipe off of Rockauto to replace mine. I did get the mip-pipe for a sedan, Bosal part number 284-451. The picture on the website indicated a pretty long resonator so I was excited to get it and bolt it up. However when the part came the resonator was not big at all, maybe 12" long. I was bummed and installed it anyway to see what it sounded like. It sounds great at idle and when you are on it, but it is too loud when cruising, drones too much for me on the highway. I am going to cut out the small resonator and weld something else in it's place, maybe another spiral flow or one of those new flowmaster DBX mufflers. I cut and weld up the exhaust myself so it does not cost anything, just finding the time sucks though. Removing the pipes, cutting, mocking up, tacking, removing, full welding, it is such a time consuming process. Anyway be warned that what you see may not be what you get when ordering up parts from the Bosal catalogue.

Update: I don't know how but I recently was able to pick up a brand new HKS axle-back on EBAY for super cheap. Much better now!
