Exhaust on a budget
#17
It wouldn't. Get a k&N, Z tube, plenum spacer, delete the res, get a good muffler and yer shib will rev hard. If you plan on going art pipes or hfc tho you must get an expensive aftermarket exhaust. There's just no question there.

OK, soo. I'm going to keep on keepin on. I'm a tolerant person and willing to put up with a bunch of BS (but thanks for the warm welcome). CAI - "up to 15 hp (7.5 would be worth it imo) healthier for your car with increased gas milage.
CC - Great perf. non-restrictive, +HP
MUFFLER - Reduce Internal sound, +perf, Increased Eng. Eff. =better power and milage.

HFC with no good exhaust sounds like this
I don't know what an HP muffler is, but just stick with stock cats and use the money on a magnaflow or Nismo system.
I promise you will not see the HP you're expecting with those mods. Those numbers come from cars with every single supporting mod, a high performance tune and maybe even FI. See how they all say "up to" 15hp? Up to means you might get that if you have a completely built and tuned motor but still happen to have the stock intake and then you change it to ours.
You most DEFINITELY will not see better MPG. In fact until you get tuned you'll most likely see less MPG. These really aren't like old cars. They're very smart and they know when yer fukcin with them and they only have a set limit of parameters in which they can adjust. That's why you need that tuuuune.

Welcome to g35driver stan, where if you talk about anything exhaust that isnt hks, you get **** on. That being said, these cars can sound really good, but you can also make it sound like the neighbor kids 1.8 civic REALLY easily. Also, even with ALL the engine boltons, you dont gain much hp. Not enough to be worth the amount on cash you have to dump in it. Forced induction is really the only way to get power out of these cars. Just enjoy it for what it is. Its a highway cruiser, not a light to light dragster.

The flowmaster might not sound that bad with the stock cats in place. When you take out the stock cats that is when the rasp will follow. Unfortunately the best performance gain will come from deleting the stock cats.

+ Your highest quality option is the Motordyne ART pipes.
- The budget option is to get just a plain old test pipe to replace. But they're will be rasp without a doubt and the stink. The rasp will kill the rich exhaust tone you are getting right now in exchange for some more power at the higher ends of the power band. With the ART pipes it has a helmholtz resonator is help fight the rasp and for better torque down low as well.
- HFC is also available but are expensive and also has rasp potential depending on your setup.
Muffler
+ Basically what scraggly said
CAI
+ Z-tube alone, or a Stillen box would give it a nicer note. But the gains are negligible
Breather tank???
