I am not trying to throw a wrench in this thread, but why not paint? I have a friend who got his professionally smoked on his 350 z and they look great. Any time I have seen any kind of 'overlay', either for headlights, tail lights, speedometers etc. they look really bad, cheap and like you are trying to cut corners.

I am the kind of guy that wants to know WHY not to paint em. I know I am not going to grab some krylon and paint them myself though.
