Changed the auto shifter

The wood trim was nice and all, but I've never really liked the fact the stock shifter was tall and had a very bulky design. I researched and found a few people who have the AT have switched to the MOMO Automatica shift **** (with the button located on the top instead of on the side like on the stock shifter). I bought the Momo shifter off Ebay for $100 and got a chance to install it this past weekend. The install took about 25-30 min and requires no special tools (other than the included hardware and instructions).

1) Take one last look at your old shifter

2) Firmly grasp and pull down the trapezoidal-shaped plastic piece from the base. If you can't get a good grip, use a latex glove.

3) Pull out the metal retaining ring which holds the shifter in place.

4) Pull up the shifter and the white plastic extender piece (you won't need it for the Momo).

5) This is the Momo Automatica shift **** I got. As you can see, the **** is mounted to the shifter metal base rod with 3 screw holes (the screws are provided with the shifter **** package). You'll have to unscrew the bottom chrome cover of the **** to get to the screw holes first. The idea here is to push down the shift **** while screwing in the 3 screws uniformly until the **** feels straight and tight.

6) Here is the finished product. The Momo **** definitely sits lower and away from access to the tape player (yes laugh if you want but I DO play tapes). The **** also has the feel of a short shifter, and compliments nicely with the graphite center console and leather interior of my car. I'm beginning to like this new mod after taking it out for a 30-mile drive today

IMO

M45 > 05+ > Momo

The momo is nice, but I like the stocl 05+ better. I would love to have a custom M45 shift **** though.

Yes I do. I got it from this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOMO-...em170199731245

Bernard, yes I still have to press the button but not with the thumb anymore. I installed the **** in a way that the metal base rod touches the bottom of the shift button so that only the palm of my hand allows the shifter to go from park to reverse to drive, etc. It's a different feel but IMO it's similar to controlling a short shifter

I put the MOMO in my 06. Its nice with the leather shift boot because you can drop it all the way down and looks like the leather shift boot fits right into the bottom of the shifter.

I personally like it a lot because is shorter first of all and the colors flow well with the inside of the car. I have the aluminum one to match my wheat interior. Favorite automatic shift **** out there.
