Convert 12v power outlet to unswitched power?
I've got an '05 G35. Has anyone converted one of the 12v cigarette lighter power outlets to be unswitched - so that it always has power, even when the ignition is turned off? Yes, I understand that it could drain the car battery if I charge my cell phone for 3 months straight...

So I went looking for pictures of what the constant power wire would look like, and found someone who has already done this:

Power Socket Always On Mod
I just did this to my 2005 6MT sedan a couple weeks ago.
if you have the service manual, page 9 of section PG shows how the power socket and cigar lighter are powered.
here is a modified version showing to bypass the accessory relay without just tapping into some random always hot wire.
this mod was done all within the fuse block and is invisible
I took the fuse block out of the drivers side kick panel.
I took it to pieces to see how the power in the fuse block connects
I wanted to isolate the cigar lighter from the accessory relay but found that it would be easier to just isolate the power socket with the least effort.
here is a view of the back of the fuse block with the cover removed.
I didn't take a picture of the fuse block with the next layer removed.
but you have to take out all the fuses for the buss bars to come free of the assembly.
be careful as most of the formed metal traces will fall out as they are not held in place, then you'll have a fun puzzle on your hands.
the doodles on the picture are kind of what you see when the next layer comes of the fuse block.
I cut the bussbar from the accessory relay to isolate the power socket section.
then I jumpered a wire from the now isolated power socket bussbar to the main power feed bussbar.
put it back together and enjoy a always on power socket.
i'm sure i'm forgetting some details, if there are any questions just ask.
