03-04 5AT Shift Boot Install + Shift Plate Removal

Hello Gentlemen,

Ive looked at different posts on different forums, but still couldn't find one good DIY (maybe I am blind) for installing a boot and removing the circular shift plate so that it will look like this:

I know I have to remove the whole center console but I'd be super great if I could get astep-by-step explanation or at least a thorough guide on how to do that installation.

That would be awesome.

Please let me know,

Thanks!

too simple for a diy, you take your shift **** off and just pull up..everything else is straight forward from there. If you can assemble a lego toy you can do this

How do you take the actual boot/leather part off? I have an 06 5AT and it has a plastic square thing on it. I've searched too.

^ I have the 06 FSM on pdf and recall seeing that. My recollection is it's not quite as easy as just pulling it up, and there are clips you can break if not careful. Unfortunately my laptop is in the shop and I can't get to the FSM right now. All I got is the phone right now. Hopefully I'll have it back soon and I'll follow-up if no one responds.

I am not talking installing the shift knobb. That takes 5 minutes. I was wondering what to do after taking out the whole console, I read somewhere that there are three wires to disconnect, etc. and was wondering if there are photos somewhere. I don't want to mess anything up. Also, I was wondering how to assemble the bo.ot. I see a few instructions for 2005+ 5AT but not really anything for the 03-04 model

Try this link to download the factory service manual for your year and model:

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/

Start with the file named 'fwd.pdf'
