So what's the story with the rear reclining seats?

Hey guys, I'm saving up for a g35 sedan (03-04) and I've heard some rumors of a rear reclining seat as an option on these cars. I've never even heard of this before, so I'm looking for as much detailed info about it as physically possible. All I've found so far is a crappy 15 second video on youtube, which had me asking more questions. Like what years is this option available? Do they all have it, or just whoever bought it as an option?

Also if you could give me any detailed and intellectual information about this rear reclining seat, I would love to hear it. It doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but if this is anything like what I think it is, I think it's earned a spot in my "My G35 must have this.." list. Thank you guys and I appreciate any help I can get.

They're part of the premium package, so if you want em you'll have to look for a car with that. Look on either side of the center seat in the rear. On one side you would see a lever that looks like this:

Then look on the other side and you'll see the seatbelt latch thing:

Move that to the side and you should see another lever:

Beside being comfortable for the back seat passengers having this also means that if you get coilovers it will be easier to adjust the dampening.

as far as years I'm not actually sure what years it was available, but mine is an 03 and has it so you should be able to get one with it.

I'm not sure what other info you're looking for but if you still have questions ask away

Thank you very much, that is awesome and answers every question I've had. I've never seen a car with a rear reclining seat, so that is probably what is making me so adament about getting a g35 with one.

I wonder how much trunk space it takes up when reclined or just in general, if any at all. Just wondering because I'm brainstorming making a custom 2x15" sub box to go in the trunk and wonder if I'll have to push the box towards the trunk a couple inches or so.

I still have decent trunk space I don't know if I have less than someone without the reclining seats, but my brother who is way into sound systems seemed to think I would have no problem putting a box with some subs in it. Here's a pic for reference, but it would be best to go see it in person.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
03-06 sedans with the premium package have them. I think they're pretty much worthless since they only recline a tiny bit, except for the ease of adjusting coilovers. For that reason alone I love mine.

They're actually really comfy to sit in when they are reclined. they won't lay all the way down or anything, but they're still nice. I used to take my breaks at work in my car and sit in the back seat.

They only adjust backwards about 5 inches from being upright, and you don't lose any trunk space because there's a solid piece behind them that the armrest hole goes through to get into the trunk. Now if they had shiatsu massagers built into them like the caddies, that would be a different story...

^they do but I was unaware that non-reclining seats didn't have that.

My '06 has it. I beleive it's part of the Premium package. They side seats recline and have adjustable headrests. The center of the seat does not recline.

I will say they are VERY comfortable fully reclined. I actually like riding in the back of a G35 with them. More cozy than the front seats for sure.

Since nobody ever sits in my rear seats, i ride around with them fully reclined with the headrests removed. Gives me a bit more rear visability, but nothing dramatic.

My daughter owned a '04 sedan and I've spent a few hours in the back seat on trips, the reclining seats makes the ride more enjoyable. It's only a couple inches but you can feel the difference!

Just got back from a customer visit with a pair of coworkers. One sat in my rear seat which was fully reclined. First comments were 'Wow..this back seat is awesome!"

If they only had seat heaters as well
