Ripped seat TSB

I posted this in a pre-existing thread, but now see that thread was in a forum regional to Northern California. So I'm posting a new thread here for broader exposure. Sorry for the duplication.

Recently bought a 2006 Coupe with 26,500 miles. The seat is not yet ripped, but I can see the micro-tears starting.

Here for convenience is a link to the TSB that was issued in 2006 for the seat tear: https://g35driver.com/forums/attachm...-itb07-006.pdf

Has anyone tried to make the frame modifications (filing down the offending plastic seat frame pieces) as a DIY? The TSB is not entirely clear to me, even when comparing with the FSM. Can you just remove the front and side seat cushion finishers and get the seat cushion off, or does it require the complete removal of the seat from the rails and then follow FSM seat cushion removal instructions in order to get to the plastic frame pieces that need to be filed down? I'm kind of thinking that it is the latter, but thought I would ask here before I start in on major surgery.

Then of course I will have to source the clips to replace the side seat finisher....

Surely someone somewhere decided to try to avoid the exorbitant dealer price to repair this by doing it themselves?!?!

Remove the seat from the car or not?

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
I have no idea, thankfully the sedans didn't have this issue. But the coupes got far better front seats IMHO so there's that.......

This TSB is over 10 years old, buy the time I read it my drivers seat already had a small rip in that area. When I replace the drivers seat leather I'll file down that area so it won't happen again...my next project!

Its crazy that there is nobody that has tried to diy this. Every early couple out there that I looked at had this tear and now my low mileage coupe has a very small tear inside the cover that is surely going to spread. Anyone know where to get skins?

Tell me about it. Really quite a surprise. I guess when the TSB was current everybody that could got it done by the dealer and no one tried to do it themselves later....
