Are these genuine Morimoto projectors, or eBay projectors? A friend of mine paid $1400 for custom lights and the dude lied and put eBay projectors in it. HUGE difference between ebay and Morimoto, even if they look the same, ive ran both before.

 

Hey Frostbite, as far as I know, all parts used in this retrofit are genuine Morimoto parts purchased from theretrofitsource.com I'm not sure how I would be able to know for sure or not. I the guy that built the lights as he had a good reputation on the forums and was a G35 owner himself. If there is a way to tell the two lights apart, then let me know. Thanks for asking.

 

Guys Hiro retrofitted for guys here on the forum back in the day (DJ Hiro) and I'd like to bet he's done a great job on his own lol.

Hey everyone, so to clarify a few points here is more information. First, my name was changed from djhiro to Hiro as I use Hiro on other forums now and have not dj'ed in while. I've been a part of this forum since Jan 2005, so I've kept the car, but backed off from djing.

The custom work on the lights were done by a forum member named DKano and not myself. I'm pretty sure that is what the name was without checking my email that is. I sent him my genuine OEM 03-04 lights to be retrofitted as he was doing work for other members and had good reviews. While he was building the lights, he told me that he was getting the parts from the retrofit source online store so I used that site for reference when selecting the parts I wanted and informed DKano of what I liked.

The reason I said I wouldn't know if the parts used were from ebay was due to the fact that I did not actually order the parts used in the retrofit. DKano did this part of it and I told him what I wanted. Now, if he told me that he was ordering parts from theretrofitsource, but actually ordered them from ebay...well, this I wouldn't know for sure as most of the work is internal. I trusted that all parts used were genuine Morimoto.

From what I received, everything looks legitimate and the lights were built with genuine Morimoto parts from what I understand. One thing I forgot to mention was that the OEM clear side strips were replaced with new ones. Regarding the clear side strip though, if that part is off of ebay, then I'm fine with it as it looks way better than the yellowing side strips that were in the OEM lights. The donor lights used were definately from my 04 coupe headlights.

I know this is a FS thread, and I hate to sidetrack, but can you tell me where you got the replacement sudestrip? I'm currently working on a retro and I need to do something about this horrible yellow strip.
