LOL, the fact is that for the most part, you do not buy locally if you want to save money. You have to buy from a vendor that does not have significant overhead costs and Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's (do they still exist?) and others do not fit that bill.

I laugh when people talk about getting "great deals" at Best Buy. More often than not, their great deals are still more than I can buy the same products for from reputable online vendors.

Correct, but there's a lot of reasons people still buy from store-front chain locations.

Its great to walk out with your item the instant you purchase it. Instant satisfaction

Its even better to be able to return to the store the same day with questions, or a return, not worry about shipping, making sure you're home to get the package or worry about it being stolen from your doorstep, etc.

True, just do not think you are actually saving any money. With the exception of Costco, Sam's, and a select few others, most local stores sell everything at MSRP.

TEXAN1 -nice picture story HAHAHHAHAHA

SO...i feel bad for those that got "ripped" off...

the sale prices are actually the "sale price for most places" lol...% off the retail price.
so its really not much of a sale..

i went once a week to check out the stuff at CC at my area..till the last few days...things were pretty much gone, besides some dvds....but i calculated it throughout the "FIRE" sale..it wasn't much difference

then i thought about "warranties/replacements/etc.." from a store thats no longer going to be open in2 days..so what if i had a problem with my big ticket item..SOL!!!!

as for store purchasing...i still have a hardtime relying on ONLINE purchases..i like my things right there right then...so i have a place to return it for problems, etc...

Understandable. Just have to say that over the years, I have purchased probably $30,000 worth of goods (most of which were electronics) online. Not once have I had a problem with the devices not working properly and necessitating a return.

+1, not to mention they like to play with their products in person and then somehow get into the whirlwind of wanting it now and not having to wait.

I still stand by my philosophy though.......play with it at best buy, buy it online on amazon or newegg

+10000000

Man newegg has the best customer service ever too... I've had RMAs and other things and they always handle it PERFECTLY.

Just the other day I had a problem with an order, I mistyped a credit card number in, the order was delayed until I contacted them with the correct info. They upgraded me to next day air shipping for free so that my order would arrive on the same day it would have arrived on had I not mistyped the info. They had no fault; it was all me, and they took the hit and fixed it. Newegg = win. (probably spent 100-200k on there from when I used to build computers for people, never a single problem with them)

I just went with best buy for the largest flat panel tv they sell with the fully articulating wall mount, bose s. sound, component furniture, blu ray and geek squad install and not for one second did I consider going to Circuit shiity. Ok, I considered c. shiity for 1 second, but I never went there.....thank God.
Bose makes baby Jesus cry. If only they spent some of their marketing budget on making good audio equipment, it would be a different story. Then again, I guess it works, because people still think they're good, when in reality they make some of the worst audio equipment on the market.

I have always had GREAT luck with purchasing big ticket items from CC and negotiating pricing with them to not only be aggressive, but also sometimes cheaper than online prices.

Best Buy, they're much harder to negotiate pricing with.

For those that aren't aware of it, Sears will also price match...even online prices! At least they did the last time I made a big ticket purchase there. Not sure if they changed that policy though. I imagine the smart move would be to do so.
