I have no problem with the second amendment. I seriously want a RPG or a tank.

I will only use it to protect my home of course.

I was just poking holes in stupid argument.

2nd Amendment is key to our civil liberties, protecting ourselves from others, and restraining a government that becomes oppressive. These concerns trump accidental deaths, crime rates, and school shootings.

Its not like an ak47 is going to help you against the government when they have tanks.

The local methhead who needs drug money maybe.

It sounded good then when it was rifle vs rifle but now....

May be those local meth head will come buy a truck, get the ak-47 and go to this guy's 1200 acre house and rob that place... and he will defend with another ak-47 before police comes in 15 minutes.

Haha, well the idea is that if the government is too powerful, many citizens will ban together to revolt or rebel. That's were the ak47 comes in. I do understand reasonable gun control (common sense measures to make buying a gun harder than buying a bag of chips).

But if the government severely restricts access to guns from its citizens, but equips its (the Gov't) armies, its police, its CIA, and its FBI with the latest, advanced guns and weaponry, then you have a issue of the government having too much of an advantage and it's very one sided. I am always suspicious of the government (no matter what political party is in charge).

Plus, it can be a recreational type thing where you just want to be able to shoot it around, or hunt, especially when you have thousands of acres of open land.

except this guy is not giving away ak-47s. He's giving a voucher for ak-47s. The person still has to go though the beauracratic paper work and red tapes before they can get a free ak-47.

Good point. And its important to remember that (correct me if I'm wrong) these AKs are not full auto. You have to press the trigger for each individual bullet. How much more dangerous than a handgun can these be? I know they can be modified to be full auto but I don't know how easy that is.

you are correct. It is illegal to make these aks full auto. We had a soldier charged while I was in Afghanistan because he filed down the trigger mechanism in his m4 to make it full auto. Ak's shoot slugs a little bigger than 7.62 so it can easily put holes in someone. They're good assualt rifles, but I still rather have the m16 or m4 for it's precision shooting and lack of recoil. It's so easy to go through 30 ak rounds. I'll find a video of me shooting the ak and post it to show you how fast you can go through the rounds and how much recoil it has.

Would like to see that vid. Might serve as a good visual aid to those who hear "AK-47" and think "fully-automatic AR"
