I feel you man, I'd probably be 13k in debt as well if I had higher credit lines. I've thought about asking my dad to help me out but he already pays for my food and gas, and business sucks right now so I will probably put that off. Plus I'd feel pretty lousy asking him to pay for my pointless purchases. After I graduate and start interviewing for jobs I may just ask for his help so that I don't look bad if prospective employers decide to do a credit check. Good luck to you as well.

What is the best way to go about doing this? Should I just call one of the companies that I currently have a card with and ask for a new credit card that I can transfer all my balances to?

This would be with your bank. Look up what a credit line is. It is not like CC. It is meant for long term debt. I took a 30k credit line to pay for my G. The interest rates are pretty small in comparison to CC (I think I pay 5.25%).

Tackle the card with the HIGHEST interest rate first because that ones making more interest off you per dollar. then work your way down the line.

Sadly I have all too many friends with tons and tons of debt. They make it so easy to get credit, student loans, credit cards, financing cars and everything else. The real lesson you need to learn is don't spend more than you make. That's the only real advice I can give you but it is the only advice anyone really needs.

I was fortunate enough to finish out college with no student loan balance, a paid for car, and no credit card debt. The difference is I almost never went out and did expensive stuff, lived right near campus, never bought stuff for girls, and didn't even have cable TV! I'm glad I did this because now I'm able to get credit for just about anything super easy and it makes things so much cheaper when you have a good rating. I am able to manage my money really easily now and I am always responsible with my credit and spending. I was fortunate to have a father who taught me all about being responsible with money and how the financial systems work (he's a PHD economist). Most people get into tons of trouble before they even realize what is happening to them.
