Renaming Photos in a Batch

I would like to rename a bunch of photos. I know that Vista will do this, but I do not like the format. Is there some sort of freeware or shareware that any of you use? Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Get a premier membership and you'll find a link to download a trial version of PhotoShop in the Premier Members Only area. PS will do it.

File Renamer Basic works great and lots of options. That's what I use for a massive amount of files.

I have a version of Adobe Elements that came with my computer. It does have a rename function, but for some strange reason it does not recognize all of my folders. If a folder name starts with a number, then it doesn't see it. Kind of wierd. I guess I could rename the folder. I am not sure how this differs from photoshop.
